Prize Patrol Delivery Brings Economic Relief to Miami Winner

Earl Lumsden of Miami, Florida was not expecting the PCH Prize Patrol to pull up to his house and knock on his door. If he had been, he probably would have had enough clothes on to appear in one of our famous PCH TV Commercials. Alas, he was only half dressed for the sweepstakes winning moment. But he got himself pulled together for the “photo op” shown below.

EARL LUMSDEN 1

You can see that Earl was one happy Publishers Clearing House winner – and not just because of the wonderful surprise visit from the Prize Patrol, but because Earl has been out of work for several years, a victim of the recession. So the Big Check for $10,000 was mighty welcome.

“I can’t stop shaking,” Earl said, apologizing as his normally steady handwriting became almost illegible.

“That’s normal,” I assured him, knowing from my hundreds of prize awards that Publishers Clearing House winners are often too overwhelmed to maintain their faculties.

Don’t believe me? Enter the PCH Sweepstakes by going to pch.com, and if we surprise you with a Big Check – worth thousands, even millions of dollars – you will find that it’s hard to stay calm!

Good luck!

There are many PCH winners from Texas. The most recent major winner was Jelaine Jaeb from Coppell, TX, who won $10,000 in August 2009.
Her story and photo were posted here on the PCH Blog on 8/24/09, in an entry entitled “Do Pets Win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes?”
The map you saw only showed the winners who got prizes this week, as part of our Prize Patrol Blitz. It does not show all the winners we’ve ever had.

well they said someone in the buffalo viewing area won here guess the three tv stations didn’t care because the women that won was about an hour away from our area and the fact that extreme home makeover is in the viewing area as in the city of buffalo sorry your winner was as important enough for any crews to drive that far to cover the winning moment

TV Viewing Areas are defined by Nielsen Media Research, the same company that measures the size of viewing audiences for TV shows. The largest share of TV viewing in every county in the U.S. can be attributed to stations in a particular TV area. As an illustration, most of the TV viewing in Sarasota County, FL can be traced to stations broadcasting out of Tampa and St. Petersburg; therefore, anyone who lives in Sarasota County, FL, resides in the “Tampa Bay TV Area.”
You live in a “TV Viewing Area”. Most likely your TV Area is named for the largest metropolitan area in your vicinity.
PCH Prize Patrol teams delivered prizes to 101 TV Viewing Areas this week. Go to the Prize Patrol Live site at http://prizepatrol.pch.com to see where they went.

The Prize Patrol tries to get local TV and news coverage in every market we visit for a prize award. Sometimes the local media will cover the story, but sometimes they don’t.

    Hi Linda,

We have had prize winners in every state. We recently had a winner from Hawaii named Destiny Kalani. Our Prize Patrol deputies actually tracked her down to an airport and surprised her there!

At Publishers Clearing House our winner selection process is completely random and unbiased and is conducted by independent auditors and Giveaway Supervisors. We have no way of determining who our winners may be or where they may come from. Our most recent winners can be found on the top of our web site at http://www.pch.com/ on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link.

    Regards,
    Jeremiah @ PCH

Do you have to purchase something to be chosen as a winner? I always at least buy 1 magizine a year. I fill out everything that is sent to me for a chance to win and sometimes don’t order anything. I can’t afford to order something everytime, but do want a chance to win millions.

Thank you.

While we have promoted our famous sweepstakes for over 40 years as a way to draw attention to our unbeatable magazine deals and value-based merchandise offerings no purchase is ever necessary to enter or win. You may be interested to know that the majority of our major prize winners have not ordered with their winning entry! Of course, if you do choose to order, our guarantee policy allows you to return any product or cancel a magazine subscription if you are not happy with your order.

All promotional mailings from Publishers Clearing House carry a prominent “Sweepstakes Facts” insert that among other information states the prize value and odds of winning. The insert reminds all recipients that:

You Have Not Yet Won. All Entries Have The Same Chance of Winning. The winner has not been identified. We don’t know who the winner is. If you enter our Sweepstakes, your entry will have the same chance to win as every other entry.

Enter For Free. You don’t have to buy anything to enter. Just mail the entry form included in this mailing or follow the instructions in the Official Rules.

Enter As Often As You Like. You don’t have to wait for us to mail you an entry form. You may submit additional entries simply by writing to us at Publishers Clearing House, 101 Winners Circle, Port Washington, NY 11050. Each time you write to us you will be entered once in each ongoing Sweepstakes. Each entry request must be mailed separately.

Buying Won’t Help You Win. Your chances of winning without a purchase are the same as the chances of someone who buys something. It would not be lawful to give any advantage to buyers in a Sweepstakes.
