Have You Had Your Summer Vacation Yet? Maybe PCH Can Help

With summer coming to a close in a few weeks, a lot of Americans have taken a summer vacation by now. For instance: The Obamas have sampled Spain, the Gulf of Mexico coast, and Martha’s Vineyard. The supermarket tabloids show that show-biz celebrities have been basking on beaches around the globe. And you’ve probably seen friends and neighbors drive off on a getaway. Based on AAA estimates, auto traveling is up this summer versus last year.

But how about you? Have you been able to get away? With Labor day right behind us, do you find yourself overworked, grumpy and un-rested – maybe because you couldn’t get time off? or your bank account a bit short?

Well, there are lots of places that are wonderful vacation spots in the fall and winter, and a vacation courtesy of Publishers Clearing House could be closer than you think – because we give away “Big Checks” throughout the year. Some people see our Prize Patrol on TV and think that we only award SuperPrizes like $10 Million or $1 Million once or twice a year. Those huge cash giveaways are certainly exciting! But if you visit our growing network of websites (via pch.com) you’ll see that we offer lots of prizes in all sizes. Just think of the fun you could have with a surprise cash windfall of a few thousand dollars. Even one of our hundreds of $1,000 checks could provide the welcome break you deserve.

So, don’t despair. Before the summer ends officially on September 23rd, enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes now simply by clicking here on this link to pch.com. And enter every day – to improve your chances of winning. You have nothing to lose – and the summer vacation that you dream about could turn into the real thing before you know it.

With warm wishes and good luck.

Winning Number Found Report

Have you ever wondered how the Publishers Clearing House SuperPrize drawings work?

It all starts with your PCH Sweepstakes entries. Every sweepstakes entry we receive is processed with care and a secure, electronic record is kept on our Contest Audit File. This file contains each entry’s identifying numbers and date of receipt.

How is a winner identified? On prize drawing day, a winning number is randomly generated for the giveaway. If a matching number is found on the Contest Audit File, the computer sends a Winning Number Found Report to Maryann Carter of the PCH Contest Department. After the entry’s eligibility is verified, as set forth in the Official Rules, a new SuperPrize winner is identified! The wheels are then set in motion for a PCH Prize Patrol delivery, and an unsuspecting new winner will soon receive the surprise of a lifetime.

What happens if there’s no match to the winning number? Unfortunately, not everyone who receives a SuperPrize Number sends in a sweepstakes entry. If no match is found on the Contest Audit File, our computer sends a Winning Number Not Found Report to Maryann Carter.

That’s why we often say “Don’t risk forfeiting millions of dollars!” Can you imagine how you’d feel if one of your SuperPrize Numbers ended up being a match to the winner and you had not sent in that entry? You don’t want your SuperPrize Number to end up on a Winning Number Not Found Report!

When there’s a guaranteed award of a base prize or the full amount and no matching winning number, Publishers Clearing House awards the prize to an alternate winner randomly selected in a second chance prize drawing among eligible entrants. Our newest millionaire, Joseph Beane, won the August 31st SuperPrize on a second chance drawing.

So, make sure you send in your Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes entry every chance you get! That’s the only way to make sure each and every one of your SuperPrize Numbers is on the Contest Audit File, ready and waiting to be found if it’s a match to the winning number.

Good luck!

A $10 Million Missed Opportunity

Did you hear about Jim Furyk, the pro golfer who overslept on August 25th, missed his tee-off time, and thereby lost his chance to win $10 million in the FedEx Cup tournament?

“I’m beside myself” said Furyk as he arrived beltless, sockless, with his shoes untied at the golf course – alas a few minutes too late under PGA Tour rules.

It reminds me of a time some years ago when a man was mailed the winning Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes number that would have won him $10 million; but he didn’t follow the rules that included sending his entry back to Publishers Clearing House. So the poor guy forfeited a $10 Million SuperPrize – which was awarded to someone else!

The PCH Prize Patrol Delivers $1 Million to Joe Beane of Las Vegas, NV

What A Difference A Day Makes – When the Prize Patrol Arrives!

Dinah Washington recorded the classic song “What A Difference A Day Makes” back in 1959.
Believe me, those words are as true today as they were then. Just ask Joseph Beane of Las Vegas, NV, the lucky guy who just won a $1 Million SuperPrize from Publishers Clearing House on a day he will never forget: August 31st, 2010.

“This is unbelievable!” Joe exclaimed as the PCH Prize Patrol surprised him. On August 30th his financial situation was hardly rosy; but that all changed within 24 hours. To see the exciting winning moment first hand, visit PCHtv.com. You can also read the FOX5 Local Las Vegas news story here.

Joseph is not only lucky but smart: he entered the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes by using PCHSearch&Win, the search engine that gives you opportunities to win every time you conduct an online search.

August Winner Soon to Receive the Surprise of a Lifetime

The August winner announcement day is today, August 31st, and the famous Prize Patrol team is on the road looking for the newest SuperPrize winner. If you’ve been entering the PCH SuperPrize sweepstakes, that winner could very well be you! One thing is for sure, it would be the surprise of a lifetime to have the famous Prize Patrol show up at your front door later today or tomorrow with a big check from Publishers Clearing House.

Here at PCH, the team has been busy preparing for the big cash prize delivery, starting with selecting the sweepstakes winner! After the prize drawing was held, the Prize Patrol team had just enough time to organize the Prize Patrol delivery basics, including the Big Check, champagne, balloons, roses and the famous Prize Patrol blazers for each team member. Then the Prize Patrollers, along with Goodwill Ambassador Natalie Bostelman, camera crew and media reporters made last minute travel plans to surprise the August winner with a big check from Publishers Clearing House. Where exactly they’re headed, we can’t say, but we’d love to hear your guesses in the comments below.

Will the Prize Patrol have to travel far from PCH headquarters? Will the SuperPrize August winner be from a small city or a big city? Fortunately, we don’t have to wait long as these questions will be answered very soon!

You can follow the action by visiting our Prize Patrol twitter feed @prizeguy. There, you can stay up to date with what’s happening on the road and view some pictures of the Big Check in the secret envelope! In addition, you will be able to watch a video of the winning moment at http://pchtv.com soon after the august winner is announced, so make sure keep checking PCHtv throughout the day for updates.

Prize Award Delivery Forecast

What’s the prize award delivery forecast? It’s always fair weather – when the PCH Prize Patrol arrives!

I don’t have to check with the TV weather man or The Weather Channel to find out what the conditions will be like when I lead the PCH Prize Patrol to the door of a lucky sweepstakes winner. No sir: it’s always fair weather when our Prize Patrol van pulls up and we ring the doorbell and announce to a shocked resident “You are a winner in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes!”

I was reminded of this recently when our good friend Dave Price, the weather anchor of CBS’s Early Show, “tied the knot.” On the day you get married OR when the Prize Patrol comes to call the sun is always shining and there’s not a cloud in the sky – even if the actual weather report showed that there were sprinkles, a downpour or even a snowstorm in the area.

I’ve had the pleasure of appearing on TV twice with Dave Price. Once we ran around New York’s Times Square asking sightseers if they’d welcome a prize award delivery visit from the Prize Patrol. (They would!) Another time we surprised a family in North Carolina with a life-changing knock on the door. On both occasions the temperature was near freezing; but for everyone in the immediate vicinity it felt like we were in the midst of a tropical heat wave – with no discomfort whatsoever!

Even though I’m not a meteorologist or a weather man like Dave Price, I’ll go out on a limb and predict the “weather” for your town should you be the winner of our next Big Check: It will be sunny, bright and just plain perfect!

Now, remember: If you want to be a big cash prize winner, you must enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes! That’s easy. Just go to pch.com to enter the PCH Sweepstakes online.

And don’t forget, at Publishers Clearing House you can play and win at any of our websites that are really worth visiting such as: PCHSearch&Win.com, PCHLotto.com, and PCHGames.com.

Since we’re currently planning to make a huge prize award delivery tomorrow, August 31st, we’re looking forward to a “sunny” day for our newest millionaire! Will it be you?

Good luck!

PCH Sweepstakes Winner to be Featured on TLC’s “The Lottery Changed My Life”

Imagine for a moment that you’re just sitting at home, thinking about your kids’ college tuition, the electric bill, the water bill, the mortgage, the lease on your car and the various other bills you’re expecting. All of a sudden, the doorbell rings… you take the time out of your busy thoughts to answer it, and standing before you is the famous PCH Prize Patrol holding champagne, roses, balloons and the famous giant check! Then you continue to imagine Dave’s familiar face as he announces that you’re the newest sweepstakes winner!

Only a handful of people ever get to experience the thrill of winning the lottery or a big sweepstakes, so TLC has created a show that features winners across the country, showing their lifestyles and what they’re doing with their winnings. The PCH Sweepstakes has changed many lives in its history, so it is only appropriate that TLC’s “The Lottery Changed My Life” is featuring PCH Sweepstakes winner, Natalie Bostelman!

What would you do if you won the PCH Sweepstakes? I think the most common thing someone would do is buy a new car, or pay off their mortgage. I personally would probably go to the animal shelter and walk away with a bunch of rescued dogs. Too many times have I been to an animal shelter and walked away on the verge of tears.

Make sure to tune in this Sunday, August 29 at 10 p.m. to find out what other big lotto and sweepstakes winners have done with their winnings including our very own Natalie Bostelman. And remember to keep entering the PCH sweepstakes. Who knows, you may be featured on “The Lottery Changed My Life” someday as well!

Liz D.

Security Door Alarm “To Go”

B Lyons PCH Merchandise 100

“This security door alarm is so compact and easy to use, I don’t know why anyone would travel without it!”

-Barb Lyons

Senior Director, PCH Merchandising

If you’re like me, you’ve watched enough creepy movies to want to double lock your doors in motel or hotel rooms. (Think of Tony Perkins in Psycho, creeping up on that gorgeous Janet Leigh…)

In my opinion, we can all use some extra security. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a fancy cruise boat – or at home. We all want to go to sleep without additional worry.

I know a lot of our customers agree, because TENS OF THOUSANDS of them have ordered these sturdy, yet surprisingly lightweight Bell & Howell Door Alarms.

I’d like to take a security door alarm from Bell and Howell with me when I go on my next business trip for PCH (which I don’t get to do often enough!).

And if my co-workers keep bothering me when I’m trying to concentrate on putting together the best possible deals for customers, I’m going to put a Bell & Howell Door Alarm under my office door! Either that or I may need to adopt a big dog and bring him to work.

All kidding aside, the Bell & Howell Door Alarm is one of my favorite problem-solvers. It’s easy to use – just turn it on, slide it under your door. Then if anyone tries to open the door, the electronic screech is loud enough to wake YOU up – and pretty likely scare THEM away.

You can use this security door alarm at home or when you travel – it works anywhere. Plus, it’s a fabulous deal! (Of course it is — it’s from Publishers Clearing House!) Order a set of two Bell & Howell Door Alarms and you GET ONE FREE!

Best wishes,

Barb

Who Will Win the Publishers Clearing House SuperPrize?

The answer to that question is a secret. The answer won’t be known until August 31st, the day that I will lead our Prize Patrol to some lucky person’s door, ring the bell and announce, “You are Publishers Clearing House’s newest millionaire!”

I know that many of you out there are hoping and praying that the winner will be YOU. I know this because last week I got many emails via Facebook and the PCH blog wishing me a happy birthday – with a p.s.: “I sure hope to meet you in person August 31st! That will be the happiest day of my life!” …more
