Word from One of the PCH Cash Prize Winners

Last week I received another phone call from a former Publishers Clearing Sweepstakes winner who received the holiday letter that I send annually to past and present PCH cash prize winners.

Even without looking at my handset’s caller ID, I recognized the voice of the caller without him saying his name. It was Sherwin, an Illinois man who won a big cash prize from us some years ago.

“How are you, Dave?” Sherwin asked me. “And how’s your wife and family?” We brought each other up to date.

Sherwin, his wife and friends have shown up in our TV commercials many times over the years because his winning moment was, in a word, classic. When the PCH Prize Patrol rang his doorbell, Sherwin opened the door in the middle of a phone conversation. His eyes widened as he realized what was happening. There we were with balloons, roses and a Big Check – for $10,000.00. He started yelling into the phone to his friend, “Steve, you won’t believe this! Publishers Clearing House is right here on my front steps! Oh my gosh! I don’t believe this!” His wife came running from inside the house; neighbors could hear all the excitement; and within minutes friends and relatives arrived and the celebration really began.

Sherwin won $10,000.00, but he acted as if he’d won $10,000,000.00. We’ve learned that the dollar amount of a PCH Sweepstakes prize award doesn’t necessarily predict how a winner will react. We’ve had winners of $10,000,000.00 whose reactions were surprisingly calm. They tell us that it’s often hours after the Prize Patrol departs that the real excitement erupts — alas not captured by our TV cameraman.

How do you think you would react if you won our new $10 Million InstaPrize? Would you fall down? Would you cry? Would you shout Hallelujah”? If you want to win (and who wouldn’t LOVE to win $10 Million a mere 48 hours after the winning entry is processed?), you must enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes! If you don’t enter, you’ll be a loser for sure.

Simply click here on this link to pch.com without delay and ENTER!

Here’s hoping you are one of our PCH cash prize winners and that we become good friends, just like Sherwin and me.

Good luck!

Dave Sayer

    Hi Lometta,

That e-mail you received is a scam. If you are contacted and asked to pay any amount, for any reason, to claim a prize, you have not heard from the real Publishers Clearing House.

We want you to know at PCH it is never necessary to pay any money to enter, win or collect one of our prizes. At Publishers Clearing House, the winning is always free! A legitimate sweepstakes will NEVER ask you to send or wire money to enter a sweepstakes, claim a prize or to pay a fee, tax or deposit of any kind. If you are asked to send money to claim a sweepstakes prize for any reason, you are being scammed. If you receive a check and are asked to send money back – you are being scammed.

At Publishers Clearing House, we treat the fraudulent use of our name seriously. We keep track of these incidents and work closely with the law enforcement and consumer protection community to share this information. We recommend that you also report this incident to the National Fraud Center at http://www.fraud.org

Anyone who believes they have received a suspicious email using our name and logo, may forward it to our fraud reporting mailbox, abuse@pch.com. Anyone who believes they have been the victim of a fraudulent contact using the name of Publishers Clearing House, may contact us immediately at our toll-free number 1-800-645-9242. We also encourage consumers to visit our website at http://www.pch.com, click on the “Info Center” and follow the link to Consumer Affairs Alerts, where there is more valuable information on how to protect oneself and avoid falling victim to sweepstakes scams.

    Regards,

Our most recent winners can be found on the top of http://www.pch.com on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link. You may also view some of our winning moments at: http://www.pchtv.com.

Publishers Clearing House prides itself on running a fair and honest sweepstakes for over 40 years in which we have awarded in excess of $300 million in prizes across the United States and Canada. We are registered with the Secretary of State in New York and Florida. Many of our winners are just like you. In fact, the majority of our winners of $1 million or more have done so as a result of a non-order entry. We really mean it when we say that there is no purchase necessary. While our sweepstakes are designed to create interest in our magazine and merchandise offers, it clearly states in all of our mailings that there is no purchase necessary to enter or win any of our sweepstakes.

    Regards,
    Jodi @ PCH

Hi Dave-

Yes, I’m a screamer, and probably would cry tears of joy if we won. Bless you and PCH for at least giving us some hope for a better less painful life.

I would try to help those less fortunate. Help ever, hurt never.

Thank you and God Bless

i am a disabled Vietnam veteran on a meager fixed income who can barely pay the monthly bills- rents -utilities & put food on the table. And, I don’t even own an automobile and have no chances of ever getting, or purchasing one . I’m between a rock & and hard place. GEE! Boy could I use a winnings of at least enough to make a down payment on a used car. It would change my life dramatically. I can only go to the grocery store once a month as that’s all i can afford. It costs me $25,00 in cab fare to just to make it to the market. I’m so broke that I had to move from my home town in order to just be able to afford to put a roof over my head. I cant even afford to live in my home town-where my family & life long friends live. I really am desperate.I could really use all the help that I could get.
Kind Regards, Wm. E. Ardolino
