WISCONSIN MAN WINS SPECIAL ST. PATRICK’S DAY PRIZE FROM PCH.COM

JON K_PCH Wisonsin winner

As reported on the PCHBlog on Wednesday, the PCH Prize Patrol was on its way to Wisconsin to surprise a lucky man with roses, balloons and a special St. Patrick’s Day prize – for $10,000.00! And I recall saying that I could not promise that he would answer the doorbell when we arrived, but I could promise that the prize would be delivered.

Well sure enough: Jon K. was not at home. A “little birdie” told us he was taking some vacation days from his job with the U.S. Postal Service, and was visiting friends in a town about half an hour away from his Appleton, Wisconsin home, but would not be gone too long.

So we waited and watched from a hidden vantage point, hoping we would see him return.  But, unsuccessful after almost an hour, we left our post, needing a bracing cup of coffee — even though it was unseasonably warm for Wisconsin in March.  An hour and a half later we were back, hoping we’d see Jon’s car pull into the driveway before it got dark.  Alas, our waiting was not over.

I passed the time reminiscing with our video cameraman about some of our most memorable Prize Patrol visits. I was about to launch into a sixth adventure when — hallelujah! — a car pulled into the driveway and a young man stepped out of the car and walked to the door in a manner that suggested that he was indeed our winner. It was time to launch the “winning moment”!

The Prize Patrol van rolled into position in front of the house, the cameraman jumped out to start the videotape rolling, we gathered all our paraphernalia, and in an instant we were ringing the doorbell.

A barking dog brought Jon to the door without delay. I hardly had to announce the purpose of our visit. One glance and Jon knew exactly what was happening. While he had entered the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes many times at pch.com and had dreamed that the Prize Patrol would arrive some day, he was totally unprepared for “the real thing.” His mouth fell open as his eyes focused on the Big Check…for $10,000.00!

Jon was not a big screamer like some winners you see in our commercials or pchtv.com. But he was no less flabbergasted that he was indeed a PCH Sweepstakes winner. And very grateful. It was a thrilling climax to a birthday he had celebrated just the day before. I don’t think Jon is Irish, but St. Patrick’s Day 2010 was a very lucky day for him and one he will never forget.

You can be a winner too — just like Jon. Don’t miss today’s and every day’s opportunity to enter and win at PCH.com. Just click here and you could be on your way!

Good luck!

  7. Hi Sara,
We are sorry to hear of the difficulties you have experienced.
Every entry you send in is processed with care and has an equal chance of winning. The more often you enter the more chances you have to win. Winners are selected at random, so you never know which entry might be the next winner.
