Classic DVDs from PCH are my Comfort Food

As a writer at Publishers Clearing House, I get to enjoy comfort TV and movies. Last week I was sitting in a meeting with our DVD buyer. She showed me a boxed classic DVD set we would soon be offering our friends. It was the first season of 21 JUMP STREET.

Yep, you heard me right! 21 JUMP STREET – the hot TV series from the ‘80s that starred none other than Johnny Depp. Sitting in those merchandise meetings I learn about the favorite TV shows and movies that friends like you will soon be offered. Remember MURDER SHE WROTE … THIRTYSOMETHING … THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW … LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRE … FATHER KNOWS BEST … TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL … and DR. QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN? I just have room to list all the great, classic shows PCH has offered.

Though these classic DVD collections have to be photographed for display purposes in our product promotions, I also need to view them to be able to write about them. Afterwards, I try to “borrow” them so I can see the whole series. I get such a kick from watching these shows that I fondly remember. Of course, I love the stories these shows tell. But I also love how each episode brings me back. Each program is like a “mini time machine” that transports me to my more youthful days and great memories. It’s amazing how those shows still entertain me as much today as they did the first time I saw them. And I’m so grateful to see an episode I might have missed.

So, what type of “comfort” TV do you like? Comedy, Drama, action? Tell us what are your favorite classic shows and movies are. We’ll make sure to pass on the news to our DVD buyer. Who knows? Maybe you’ll then see your favorite TV series or movie offered in one of our bulletins. And then you can say that it was your idea!!! And while you’re at it make sure to visit PCH.com to get your daily sweepstakes entry!

Good luck!
