Tax Free Prize Awarded to Online Sweepstakes Entrant in Appleton Wisconsin

Persistence paid off for Richard Maigatter (pronounced “My-gator”) last week when Dave Sayer of the PCH Prize Patrol arrived unannounced at his Appleton, Wisconsin home to present a $100,000.00 Tax Free Prize. Mr. Maigatter played the PCH Sweepstakes online five times a week for the past 10 years, hoping one day his entry would be selected as a big winner.

“Somebody does win. There is a winner. Today it’s me,” Mr. Maigatter declared. Then he rushed inside to call his wife who wasn’t home for the surprise winning moment. He couldn’t wait to tell her the good news, especially because she used to think he was wasting his time for sending in a daily online sweepstakes entry. “I don’t think she’ll feel this way anymore!” he exclaimed.

The Tax Free sweepstakes prize will be paid in two checks. The first one is for $100,000 and a second check will be issued in an amount adequate to cover the tax.

The surprise winning moment was covered by the Appleton Wisconsin newspaper, called the Post Crescent, and NBC affiliate in Green Bay/Appleton, WGBA. Here’s a link to the local news story about the newest Publishers Clearing House winner:

http://www.postcrescent.com/article/20100430/APC0101/4300494/1979

Will the next Publishers Clearing House winner be another devoted long-time sweepstakes entrant, or will beginner’s luck strike? It’s all in the luck of the draw. One thing’s for sure, though, you’ve got to be “in it to win it” so send in a contest entry today!

And, for a brand new way to win, try playing the PCH Lotto $25,000 BLACK EVENT! It’s just starting today. You’ll have EIGHT prize opportunities there each day during the Black Event, including the limited time $1,000 Dream Night FUN’ds Scratch Card. Start thinking of your lucky numbers now!

Play it at PCH Lotto May 3 – May 31: http://pchlotto.com

Good luck!

@ Gail –
Hello!
Thank you for being so committed to PCH. :)
I echo Deborah’s statement. PCH winners come from all kinds of places and backgrounds. Just this winter, a winner was surprised in New York. The 2009 winner of the $5,000 a Week for Life prize was from New Jersey.
Keep on entering! As the saying goes, “You can’t win unless you enter!”
GOOD LUCK!!

I don”t know about the winning deal,I had an entry that made it to the three and final round and did not get anything ,I hope I will get another chance with All my enty I put in 7 days a week, but I probably won”t get that close ever again. PCH only selects a few winners each time I guess and I still did not make it ,I”ll keep trying but with all the odds it looks slim…

Hi everyone at PCH I have a problem with the scratch and win. After I played my numbers in black n grey I scratched my card that was also in black n grey but then the regular card poped up already already scratched off and the penny just kept flashing and it wouldn’t let me search. This never happened b4. did I do something wrong to cause that? What happened?

Hi Lukisha,
Are you still having issues with PCHLotto?
If the cards are flashing you may need to clear your flash cache. You can do this by Right-clicking on an open Scratch Card, select “Settings”, and then “Local Storage”. From there set the storage to zero. The player may then ask you to accept use of flash storage to which you can answer yes.

I don’t find BIG winners out in the west coast. I would say 80 perscent of people winning are from East Coast. Just now two winners are from FL. Yesterdays winner FL. I realize this is random, yet it seems like it is the east coast that has advatange. It seems like they win at THEIR lunch hour. This is after a lot of observation.

Thank you. Best of luck to you all.

    Hi Jodi,

Our winners are selected at random and all entries have an equal chance of winning. However, a majority of the PCH sweepstakes entries come from the areas of the country with the most people. Please keep in mind that if more people enter from a certain area the probability of a winner being selected from that area goes up.

    Best of luck!

    Regards,
    Rebecca @ PCH

    Hi Jodi,

The Ultra Combo Prize was not awarded on November 30th. The $1 Million prize won by Julie Laughlin was from a second chance drawing. Therefore, Giveaway No. 1400 is still ongoing. Best of luck!

Have been entering sweepstakes for over 25 yrs and have yet to see anything. Have also made purchases, and that does not help either. I have gone on PCH SEARCH AND WIN several timwes it sendas me to other things that have nothing to due with entrying a sweepstakes,

    PCH Customer Service said...

    Hi Susan,

Please keep in mind that our winners are chosen randomly, so each entry has the same chance of winning – regardless of how long the entrant has been participating. We have had winners who have entered for several years before winning, and others who have won with their first entry. It’s all a matter of chance – good luck!

As well, please remember that there is absolutely no purchase necessary to enter or win our sweepstakes. Making a purchase does not increase your chances of winning, as it wouldn’t be lawful to give an advantage to buyers in a contest.

PCH Search & Win is a search engine, like Google or Yahoo – you can use it to find information on the internet. All that you need to do to claim your entry is to visit http://search.pch.com, type whatever you’d like to search for in the box provided, and click the “Search” button. As soon as you do this, you receive an entry into the PCH sweepstakes. You do not need to click on any of the search results if you do not wish to do so. You can do up to 25 searches each day which will each give you an entry into the Search & Win instant prize giveaways. I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, please send us a message on our Ask Us page at http://pch.custhelp.com/app/utils/login_form/redirect/ask and we’ll be happy to answer them for you.

    Have a great day!
    Rebecca @ PCH
