Thanksgiving Sweepstakes Prize Winner From Louisiana

While the PCH Prize Patrol has visited Louisiana many times in the past to deliver sweepstakes prizes, last week was the first time we had been there since the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl last February. It was heartwarming to see much of that wonderful city still in a celebratory mood – and so vibrant five years after Hurricane Katrina. The French Quarter was as musically alive as ever.

But what was even more thrilling for us was to arrive in nearby Morgan City and award a special Thanksgiving sweepstakes prize to Diana Stone, one of our online Prize Days winners.

“I don’t believe this!” said Diana as she crept out her side door wondering what all the commotion was in front of her house. There she saw us — with roses, balloons, champagne, video cameraman AND a Big Check for $10,000.00 – with her name on it.

I asked Diana why she couldn’t believe it. “After all,” I told her, “you’ve been entering the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes for a long time. Why should you be surprised?”

Diana told me that, “Sure, you see it on TV, but you never think it will happen to you!”

Ah, ye of little faith. Believe me, if you enter our sweepstakes (and follow the rules) there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t win – just like Diana and hundreds and hundreds of other PCH Sweepstakes prize winners – including fifty-seven millionaires.

We hope we can visit you someday and present you with a Big Check – with YOUR name on it. A simple click on this link to pch.com could be what gets you on the way to your very own “winning moment.”

Good luck!

On November 22 I asked this on the blog-–”Just wondering could it be Louisana this time??” YES! For once I was right on picking a place the Prize Patrol would be. “Simple pleasures for simple minds” they always say. It feels nice to be right for once…New Orleans holds a special place in my heart..I lived there for 4 years, my 1st home, and my 2nd child was born there..”All SAINTS Day!” he chose for his birthday!-(I wanted Halloween.)
Congratulations to Diana Stone!

I have a question. I just received an email from Publisher’s Clearing House saying I won and that you need my email, phone and address. It looks fishy, but I’m not sure if this is real or not. I’ve never won before so I don’t know what to expect. If someone from PCH wants to check it out, I’ll GLADLY email it to you.

    Hi Melanie,

That definitely seems like a scam – the Prize Patrol does not contact our winners by email to ask for their address. Please forward the email you received or copy its text into a new email to abuse@pch.com. We will be happy to report the scam for you.

What about this? In the last three days I had numerous email reminders from a supposed to be PCH. It stated that it is very important, critical, not to be ignored and i need to reply. It took me a long while to decide if I reply to it. When i replied the answer was not clear. I wonder if it was really reminders from PCH. I appreciate if you could enlighten me on this? The emaiss has your logo. Thanks.

        Hi Colette,

At PCH, we are highly concerned about reports of scam artists using our name and good reputation to try and deceive consumers. If you are contacted and asked to pay any amount, for any reason, to claim a prize, you have not heard from the real Publishers Clearing House.

Pch.com sends out numerous promotional e-mail entries which are opportunities for a chance to win, and provide clear information that the recipient has not yet won any prize, must enter by the deadline, and must be chosen to win. Every time you process an entry your name is issued an extra SuperPrize Number. You are not obligated to enter all of the promotional e-mails sent. In order to win an entry must be selected by random drawing or match the winning number selected. Please remember that while we receive entries from all across the land only one individual can actually win each giveaway. Winners of $10,000 or more are notified in person by our famous Prize Patrol and winners of anything under $10,000 are notified by Certified letter or Express letter.

We want you to know at PCH it is never necessary to pay any money to enter, win or collect one of our prizes. At Publishers Clearing House, the winning is always free! A legitimate sweepstakes will NEVER ask you to send or wire money to enter a sweepstakes, claim a prize or to pay a fee, tax or deposit of any kind. If you are asked to send money to claim a sweepstakes prize for any reason, you are being scammed. If you receive a check and are asked to send money back – you are being scammed.

At Publishers Clearing House, we treat the fraudulent use of our name seriously. We keep track of these incidents and work closely with the law enforcement and consumer protection community to share this information. We recommend that you also report suspicious contacts to the National Fraud Center at http://www.fraud.org

Anyone who believes they have received a suspicious email using our name and logo, may forward it to our fraud reporting mailbox, abuse@pch.com. Anyone who believes they have been the victim of a fraudulent contact using the name of Publishers Clearing House, may contact us immediately at our toll-free number 1-800-645-9242. We also encourage consumers to visit our website at http://www.pch.com, click on the “Info Center” and follow the link to Consumer Affairs Alerts, where there is more valuable information on how to protect oneself and avoid falling victim to sweepstakes scams.

        Regards,

It seems that the blog is not posting responses correctly. I don’t know that she won the combo prize but, I don’t know of any other million dollar winners today. The big check is just for show anyhow though I would like to know also if she won the combo prize.

    From Chris @PCH (above):

Our latest Millionaire is J. Laughlin of Grand Ledge, Michigan! You can watch the winning moment at http://www.pchtv.com.

PS – could you guys be a little more specific and just to note, your blog isn’t posting things according to the order of their timestamps! Might want to fix that.

Good day to you and congratulations winners. And thanks PCH for being responsible and changing the way you do things. (I read about the bad publicity but then again that’s what happens when you join the internet, it’s a brutal place to do business)

It is commendable that you have taken responsibility, unlike many other companies who dodge it. You guys know what I mean.

Blessings for the holidays and I hope a little love will come my way!

    Hi Olympia,

Please be assured that if you followed the entry instructions, your Sweepstakes entry has been fully processed. During the process, there are third party offers that are optional for viewing. If you are interested in any of these offers and wish to be contacted you may click on the submit button. If you wish to pass any offers, you may click on the skip button and continue processing your entry.

After your entry is processed (as indicated by the “Processing Entry” or “Information Authentication” page), you may be redirected to a non-PCH advertisement which may be of interest to you. There is no obligation to provide any information or make any purchase – if you do not wish to do so.

And remember, a purchase is never necessary to enter or win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes!

Well, it’s not exactly true that one is under no obligation to leave information. I was just on the website also trying to find out if the ultra prize was given away yesterday, and got to a page with a list of pies which asked for my pie preference and my e-mail. It would not let me go forward or backward and said my e-mail must be given to go on…so I returned to my home page.

You have given the company line beautifully regarding the millionaires of PCH, but what we all wish to know is (and in plain English please) DID PCH GIVE AWAY THE ONE MILLION DOLLARS PLUS THE 6,000.00 PER WEKK FOR LIFE ON NOVEMBER 10 AS PROMISED? A yes or no will do…and if not, why? PCH is so reassuring that finally they have a small block of numbers who are absolutely eligible to win the prize, that someone with (enter your name here) your initials is going to win, and we are all ssuch buddies with you until the day after the contest date…
My other question is is the $10 million dollar contest the same $10 million dollars you were giving away last summer and for which I submitted “the absolutely last” entry form necessary to win? Thank you for answering this.

        Hi Teresa,

Please be assured that your participation in the survey questionnaire is completely optional! If you choose to complete the brief survey, you may be contacted by our select partners via e-mail, telephone or mail. If you prefer not to complete the survey, simply scroll to the bottom of each page and click “Skip”. Your entry will be verified on the last page.

Unfortunately, the winning number was not returned in this “Advanced Look” drawing, therefore the prize was not awarded at this time. The winner of the $1 million second chance drawing was J. Laughlin of Grand Ledge, MI.

In the case of an “Advanced Look” drawing, a SuperPrize number is drawn and, if the winning entry has been returned, the prize is awarded. If the winning number was not returned, the prize rolls over to the next draw date. If the prize is not awarded on any of the “Advanced Look” draw dates, the prize will be awarded on the end date specified in the Sweepstakes Facts.

Please be assured, if you are one of our lucky winners you will definitely be notified. If you are picked as a winner of a prize of $10,000 or more, you will be notified in person by the Prize Patrol. Prizes of under $10,000 are notified by certified mail or by courier. These awards are done as soon as all winning entries and prizes are matched. Our most recent winners can be found on the top of http://www.pch.com on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link. You may also view the winning moment at http://www.pchtv.com.

Publishers Clearing House prides itself on running a fair and honest sweepstakes for over 40 years in which we have awarded in excess of $223 million in prizes across the United States and Canada. We are registered with the Secretary of State in New York and Florida. Many of our winners are just like you. In fact, 47 out of our 57 winners of $1 million or more have done so as a result of a non-order entry. We really mean it when we say that there is no purchase necessary. While our sweepstakes are designed to create interest in our magazine and merchandise offers, it clearly states in all of our mailings that there is no purchase necessary to enter or win any of our sweepstakes.

Do they reach overseas? I know people who work on ships, boats and vessels. They saw PCH on their laptops? They are wondering how you find them or where you hand their checks and goods to them. Thanks.

        Hi Collette,

Our Prize Patrol makes every effort to locate our winners. We haven’t had a situation in over 30 years of awarding prizes where we could not locate our winners. The Prize Patrol would work directly with the Postal Service to locate the owner of the P.O. Box if necessary. We have had winners who live in big cities, small towns, trailer parks, high rise apartments and even the Alaskan tundra and the Prize Patrol has always located the winner.

Please note that it is possible to win more than once. There is no limit on the amount of times that you can win, unless otherwise stated. Please review the Official Rules link on our website, promotional e-mail or on the insert in your mailing for further details. Please also take a look at the Sweepstakes Facts that also includes the prize value and odds of winning.

In order to have multiple online entrants in the same household, all entrants must have a unique e-mail address when entering on our website.

Please note that there is no set timeframe for our Prize Patrol to deliver a prize. When our famous Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol awards a prize in person, they make every effort to find that winner. If the winner is at work, on vacation, or away from home, the Prize Patrol will find them.

Currently only those consumers who maintain an address in one of the fifty US states, Puerto Rico, and Canada can enter our sweepstakes.

      Hi Junior,

Our mailings are opportunities for a chance to win, and provide clear information that the recipient has not yet won any prize, must enter by the deadline, and must be chosen to win. In order to win an entry must be selected by random drawing or match the winning number selected. Please remember that while we receive entries from all across the land only one individual can actually win each giveaway. All PCH prizes of $500 or greater are awarded by either certified mail, or in person by our famous Prize Patrol. These awards are done as soon as all winning entries and prizes are matched.

While we have promoted our famous sweepstakes for over 40 years as a way to draw attention to our unbeatable magazine deals and value-based merchandise offerings no purchase is ever necessary to enter or win. You may be interested to know that the majority of our major prize winners have not ordered with their winning entry! Of course, if you do choose to order, our guarantee policy allows you to return any product or cancel a magazine subscription if you are not happy with your order.

All promotional mailings from Publishers Clearing House carry a prominent “Sweepstakes Facts” insert that among other information states the prize value and odds of winning. The insert reminds all recipients that:

You Have Not Yet Won. All Entries Have The Same Chance of Winning. The winner has not been identified. We don’t know who the winner is. If you enter our Sweepstakes, your entry will have the same chance to win as every other entry.

Enter For Free. You don’t have to buy anything to enter. Just mail the entry form included in this mailing or follow the instructions in the Official Rules.

Enter As Often As You Like. You don’t have to wait for us to mail you an entry form. You may submit additional entries simply by writing to us at Publishers Clearing House, 101 Winners Circle, Port Washington, NY 11050. Each time you write to us you will be entered once in each ongoing Sweepstakes. Each entry request must be mailed separately.

Buying Won’t Help You Win. Your chances of winning without a purchase are the same as the chances of someone who buys something. It would not be lawful to give any advantage to buyers in a Sweepstakes.

At Publishers Clearing House our winner selection process is completely random and unbiased and is conducted by independent auditors and Giveaway Supervisors. We have no way of determining who our winners may be or where they may come from. Our most recent winners can be found on the top of our web site on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link.

Our most recent winners can be found on the top of our web site on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link.

While we have promoted our famous sweepstakes for over 40 years as a way to draw attention to our unbeatable magazine deals and value-based merchandise offerings no purchase is ever necessary to enter or win. You may be interested to know that majority of our major prize winners have not ordered with their winning entry!

    - You Have Not Yet Won. All Entries Have The Same Chance of Winning. The winner has not been identified. We don’t know who the winner is. If you enter our Sweepstakes, your entry will have the same chance to win as every other entry.

    - Enter For Free. You don’t have to buy anything to enter. Just mail the entry form included in this mailing or follow the instructions in the Official Rules.

    - Enter As Often As You Like.

    - Buying Won’t Help You Win. Your chances of winning without a purchase are the same as the chances of someone who buys something. It would not be lawful to give any advantage to buyers in a Sweepstakes.

    Regards,
    Jodi @ PCH

    Hi Junior,

Publishers Clearing House guarantees to announce a winner of $100.00 with the same initials as your first and last name. Prizes of $1OO.OO will be awarded via random drawing from among eligible entrants with initials that match each of the 676 unique combinations of two letters in the alphabet. Prizes for unique initial combinations without a winner will be awarded at random from among all eligible entrants at Giveaway end.

As detailed in the mailing, in these nationwide contests a separate prize of $100.00 is allocated to each of the 676 unique combinations of two letters in the alphabet. Each timely entrant in the contest is classified by the first and last initials of their name, and assigned to the group of contestants who share the same first and last initials that together form one of these combinations. At contest end, we award a prize for each such combination of letters to a contestant selected at random from among all those with the corresponding initials. In this manner, we are assured that someone with each of the 676 letter combinations or “initials” will win a prize. Full details regarding the contest are set forth in the Official Rules for the mailing and in the disclosure box titled “YOUR INITIALS’ PRIZE AWARD GUARANTEE”.

    Hi C. Hall,

All of Publishers Clearing House giveaways are conducted under the strict control of independent auditors and giveaway supervisors. Our winner selection methodologies are designed to be fair and unbiased.

There are two methods we use:

MATCHING WINNING NUMBER – Our independent auditors select a winning SuperPrize number at random. Publishers Clearing House does not know the winning number until giveaway end when the auditors reveal it to us. Throughout the life of the sweepstakes, Publishers Clearing House assigns SuperPrize numbers to outgoing Bulletins. Any one of the numbers assigned to you while the giveaway is going on could be the winning number.

RANDOM DRAWINGS – A two-step process is used for random drawings. Incoming entries are prequalified either manually, by specially trained contest judges using raffle cages, or electronically using a computer. Then, on drawing day, all qualified entries are sequentially numbered and a bingo cage is used to randomly pick the winner.

There is no key word you need to search for; prizes are awarded at particular times throughout the day. The first person to do a search after the selected winning time will be directed to a page that looks like this: http://static.blingo.com/pch/images/screenshots/winningScreen1.gif.

    Hello Angela,

Unless otherwise indicated, there are generally no age limits to enter and win a Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes. Awards to minors are held in trust until the individual has reached the age of maturity. You can check the Official Rules in our entries for each contest to determine if there is an age limit on a specific giveaway being offered. Additionally, all entries have the exact same chance of being selected as the winner, regardless of how long you have been entering. Entries are only ‘invalid’ if not submitted before the entry due date.

There was no matching number for the Ultra Combo Prize, but for the second chance drawing we awarded $1,000,000 to J. Laughlin of Grand Ledge, MI.

    Hi Carter,

Unfortunately, the winning number was not returned in this “Advanced Look” Ultra Combo drawing, therefore the prize was not awarded at this time. The winner of the $1 million second chance drawing was J. Laughlin of Grand Ledge, Michigan. In the case of an “Advanced Look” drawing, a SuperPrize number is drawn and if the winning entry has been returned, the prize is awarded. If the winning number was not returned, the prize rolls over to the next draw date. If the prize is not awarded on any of the “Advanced Look” draw dates, the prize will be awarded on the end date specified in the Sweepstakes Facts. Currently the Ultra Combo Giveaway is scheduled for February 29, 2012 but there is a good chance of us having another “Advanced Look” drawing.

LOL, people….PCH is going to keep giving you the “copy & paste” speech. They cannot give you any specific details other that what they have cut and pasted on the comment box. PCH does not owe us ANYTHING….so, don’t depend on winning. You ALWAYS have to have a backup plan because winning is not guaranteed.

I hope I’m not offending anyone. You can’t solely depend on Publisher’s Clearing House to give you fortune. You have to depend on yourself and make it happen, elsewhere. Don’t give up on PCH, but they don’t owe you ANY explanation to who won or why anyone wasn’t awarded the Ultra Combo Prize in Aug and Nov. PCH is actually doing us a favor by being so kind to give us the opportunity to become financially secure…..don’t take it for granted!

Just play and have fun and leave it at that. It’s an opportunity, not what’s owed to you. As, I stated, I hope I didn’t offend anyone. I’m playing to win just like everyone else. I don’t have a job or a car just like anybody else. I would like to have money for Christmas just the the next man, but I can’t put my hope and faith in PCH because, clearly, I haven’t won that past two times. SO, I must depend on GOD. He is the one who grants us good fortune, but He’s not just going to give it to you. You have to earn it!

So, talk to God about your problems…not the Publisher’s Clearing House blog. All they can say is to “keep on entering!” God says, “Trust Me.”

Now, which one do you have MORE chances in winning?

Please, PCH SWEEPSTAKES DOUBTERS, Please review ALL of the contest rules. Eveything is set in BLACK and WHITE and readability and comprehension-ability are rated high. IF you have questions AFTER reading ALL of the rules, PLEASE e-mail or write to PCH and they will clarify the answers for you. PCH is monitored closely by many agencies, including the FTC and others. IF PCH was doing ANYTHING that is NOT JUST in their sweepstakes programs, I assure you, they would be called on the carpet. PCH has been around for well over 30 years Now; as a SUCCESSFUL and HIGHLY REGARDED Marketing firm. The number of entries is HIGH, however there is but ONE number that is drawn (and audited). PLease tell me.. How many times have YOU failed to return an entry? Now multiply this by the number of others who have Failed to return or submit an entry. The chances of that ONE NUMBER not being returned or submitted, per the rules, is great. Think of the Lotteries that are played in a number of States, better yet, just consider the Powerball lottery. MILLIONS of people buy Powerball lottery tickes, every week, sometime twice a week. How many times (weeks or months at a time) has the Powerball Lottery Balance continued to grow, because NOT ONE of the MILLIONS of players has purchased the correct numbers? Please have more respect for PCH, after all the game of “CHANCE” is called that for a reason. Keep playing, keep entering and MAYBE ONE DAY, your CHANCE to win will arrive.

GOOD LUCK and may the numbers be with you

Dear Mr. John Johnson, C. Hall and others who doubt the validity of the PCH SWEEPSTAKES.

I am a CONSUMER, well versed in what to look out for, when it comes to potential scams. (PCH has been kind enough to inform us all about possible scams, please read about this at PCH.COM/SWEEPSTAKES INFO.

If PCH were trying to Scam the public, I assure you they would be asking for money from us; just for the opportunity to complete an entry to their sweepstakes.

PCH has made it PERFECTLY CLEAR that NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY to ENTER ANY of their Sweepstakes.

PCH is in the business to SELL magazines and other products. They introduce these products to us (the Public) by MARKETING or ADVERTISING. WALMART does the same thing, and so does BEST BUY, SEARS, KMART, SAM’S CLUB, and every company that wants to get our attention to sell us their wares. Look at the advertising these companies do. Some offer REWARDS if you shop with them, some have monthly, daily or weekly contest to win product, trips or discounts.

If you have ever been to a home show, I am certain you will have seen trade booth, after trade booth, which has some sort of CONTEST going on. For example the WINDOW and SIDING Companies usually have a contest where people will sign up for a CHANCE to win UP TO $5000. in WINDOWS,Doors,or SIDING for their home. Consumers(People) stop, look at the products being offered; while giving the SALES team the opportunity to speak to them about their products on display. Consumers (people) become eager to drop their names, address, phone numbers, and perhaps answer a couple of questions regarding their plans for improving their property (homes) in the near future. I assure you that SOMEONE DOES WIN this contest, but I also know that the RULES of the contest stipulate that the winner ONLY WINS the $5000 IF they agree to purchase some portion of the materials and labor to complete a FULL Remodeling of thier Home. I also know that most people DO NOT take the time to READ the RULES of the contest.
The MARKETING or ADVERTISING of the Contest has acomplished what the company was after; and their is NOTHING ILLEGAL ABOUT IT. The WINDOW/SIDING company, that sponsored the CONTEST, now has a box or basket full of potential customers names and phone numbers, which was given VOLUNTARILY by the consumer, to call on, in thier effort to make a sale of their product.

As a PEER, I can assure you that PCH SWEEPSTAKES ARE NOT ILLEGAL, FISHY, nor ANY SORT of A SCAM.

Under this Topic Heading alone, PCH Customer Service has taken the time to explain and re-explain how the Sweepstakes program works.

Please, if entering PCH Sweepstakes is causing you this much Stress, it might be best if you avoid entering this or any other Sweepstakes or Lottery.

I hear you saying you REALLY NEED to win. If you are COUNTING on this, or any other contest, sweepstakes or lottery to resolve any financial crisis in your life, please Stop and redirect your efforts.

Entering the PCH Sweepstakes should be a fun thing to do.

So many times the advertising mentions ‘DREAMING” about the CHANCE of winning. This should NOT be a NIGHTMARE for you. I too DREAM about the prospect of MAYBE ONE DAY WINNING, and MEETING MR. SAYER and the PRIZE PATROL. I will admit that on the advertised day of reward, I make certain my living room is in good order, but I do NOT spend my life COUNTING on the Prize Patrol showing up at my front door and resolving all of my financial woes. I know that to resolve my burdens, I MUST TAKE the BULL by the HORNS, set my goals, and then work toward meeting my Goals. I DON’T PRAY to GOD to WIN. I PRAY to GOD to lead me in the right direction in my life.

Please take the time to READ ALL of the RULES and STIPULATIONS of the PCH SWEEPSTAKES or ANY OTHER CONTEST you may enter.

PCH has valid sweepstakes. and they HAVE REWARDED Millions of Dollars. You can’t win if you don’t enter. But also remember the ODDS are NOT in ANYONE’S favor. BY CHANCE and CHANCE ALONE someone wins.

PERHAPS one day it MAY be you, but don’t count on it. DREAM ABOUT IT and let your DREAMS be happy thoughts. In the meantime work hard, set your GOALS for what YOU can ATTAIN ON YOUR OWN; not by CHANCE, but becasue you put your back into it.

HAVE YOU STOPPED IN at PCH GAMES.com? There you can PLAY FREE GAMES, meet people from all over, they are fun to play. While there, look around for the many sweepstakes you can enter, just for fun. RELAX
