Holiday Greetings from Dave Sayer of the PCH Prize Patrol

Holiday Greetings and Hello PCH Blog readers,

Every year I send a holiday greetings letter to our many, many friends who have won Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes prizes in the past. It’s a great way to keep in touch, and everyone enjoys reading about our Prize Patrol adventures over the last twelve months. I thought that you, as regular PCH Blog readers, might enjoy reading this year’s letter as well — so here it is.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

to your house — from the Prize Patrol — at Publishers Clearing House

We hope that 2010 has been a good year for you and yours. It has been a good one for us – with lots of sweepstakes excitement, new winners and expansion of our online business.

For those PCH employees whose jobs also include Prize Patrol duties, the best part is traveling all over the USA and surprising lucky Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes winners. We made twenty-one trips since we last wrote – delivering roses, balloons and Big Checks!

As last year’s holiday greetings letter was in the mail we surprised Timothy Lotz of Washington State ($25,000) and Patricia Schoelkopf of New Jersey ($10,000). January brought $10,000 prizes to Beth Hillis and Janet Theriaque, both of Tennessee, Rebecca Sanford of Wisconsin and Kay Fleitz of New Mexico.

In February excitement reigned as we surprised Marilyn Ragin of Florida with a $1 Million SuperPrize winner while she was at a church luncheon. $10,000 prizes were also delivered to Terry Burns of Texas and Mary Mangan of Ohio.

In March we surprised Long Island neighbor Jean Rizzo with $5,000. Then within a month there were two trips to the same Wisconsin town (Appleton): $10,000 for Jon Knostenberg and $100,000 Tax Free for Richard Maigatter. So you see, lightning can strike twice.

Summer brought surprise visits to Stephanie Sasso (New York – $10,000) and Delbert Harris (Texas – $10,000). Then Lady Luck smiled on Joe Beane of Las Vegas, NV as he won our next $1 Million SuperPrize.

It was all treat and no trick as Jeff Jones of Massachusetts won our $100,000 Halloween prize. In recent weeks we awarded $10,000 checks to Colette Wallace of Texas, Diana Stone of Louisiana and Lou Lacerra of Connecticut. In addition, Pat Ticknor of Wisconsin was surprised with $20,000.

Our Thanksgiving $1 Million SuperPrize was delivered to Julie Laughlin of Michigan. Her emotional winning moment and many others can be seen at PCHTV.com. Log-on and enjoy! And don’t forget to enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes online at pch.com. Maybe one of our big 2011 prizes could be yours.

Throughout every year it is always my pleasure to reconnect with former prize winners — by mail, phone, e-mails or even in person. It’s such a joy to re-live winning moments and to catch up. That is something I will miss as I retire at year-end from nearly thirty years of getting to know hundreds of wonderful people who it has been my privilege to surprise with good news. I hope that if I happen to find myself in your neck of the woods in the future you won’t mind my knocking on your door and saying hello, even if I don’t have a Big Check in hand.

The PCH Prize Patrol remains in excellent hands. Todd Sloane, my esteemed colleague and co-founder of the Prize Patrol, carries on, and Danielle Lam will be traveling all over the place while assuming winner relations responsibilities. I may even come along on some prize awards and write blogs from time to time – because it won’t be easy leaving such a wonderful job.

All the employees of Publishers Clearing House join me in sending you our holiday greetings with warmest wishes for a blessed holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Dave Sayer

Executive Director

PCH PRIZE PATROL

P.S. To all you PCH Blog readers: As noted above, I will be retiring from “active duty” soon but will still remain a contributor to our blog site — because I have really enjoyed corresponding with you and reading your comments. All the best, Dave

RETIRING! DAVE I know many other PCH emplyoees have helped you over the years with the PCH Prize Patrol duties, and please Mr. Todd Sloane don’t take this badly; however MR DAVE SAYER do you know how LONG I have been DREAMING to meet you? 37 years and 2 1/2 months ago I mailed in my very FIRST PCH Sweepstakes Entry. I had just become of legal age, and was so very excited to have my VERY OWN NAME printed on the envelope which I received in the mail.
All of these years, since YOUR introduction to my household, I have DREAMED of the time we would meet face to face, smile to smile, hug to hug. I will MISS YOU ! You,(on behalf of PCH), have created some really good happenings for so many families. Perhaps your picture can appear on the PCH SEARCHtoWIN Search Engine Home Page, in recognition of all you represent for PCH. I am happy to hear that you will still communicate with us on the PCH BLOG. and now..
Mr. Todd, CONGRATULATIONS on your new and exciting position with PCH. You do have some mighty big shoes to fill. I have seen your autograph on a few of my PCH mailings, however right this very moment I do not recall having seen a picture of you. If I am to change the vision of the “Man of my Dreams”, I have to see a current picture please. I promise I will continue to present my entries to every PCH Sweepstakes. I must tell you that all of the PCH WEB Site(s) and having my opportunities to register my sweepstakes entries on-line is a very welcomed change from the good old days of paper entries. My mailbox use to overflow with PCH mailings. I much prefer the internet entries, and I also prefer seeing the products on line; when I chose to send in an order. OH, I must also tell you that I do enjoy the PCH SHOPandWIN site as well. I feel much better paying up front when I place an order. Not just this, but I LOVE having WON so many E-GIFT CERTIFICATES, which makes paying for items I chose to buy, even more satisfying. I did ALL of my Christmas shopping at SHOPandWIN this year. I paid NO Shipping Fees, got FABULOUS deals on some super great items, such as the Toshiba Blu Ray DVD Player that I gave to my husband for Christmas this morning. Anyway, Welcome to your new position. I look forward to seeing that picture of you, so that I may have the vision in my DREAMS.

DAVE, try to enjoy being
‘grounded’. I know it will be a major transition for you. I have seen where you have written about some of the waterways you have seen on your BIG WiNNER trips. Perhaps you can get a relly good fishing pole (they are occasionally available through PCH SALES), a nice comfy chair, with a foot rest; kick back, while you yourelf “DREAM” about all of the good works you did over the years. ENJOY.. We will adjust, it will just take some time, however, you will NEVER be forgotten !

GOD BLESS and HAPPY NEW YEAR (LIFE)

Dear Dave: Although I have not received my “Big Check” yet…(hopefully during Christmas)… I hope that when that day comes you will come out of retirement just for a moment to surprise me… I have been a longtime PCHer and enjoy all that it offers i.e.: products, games, chats and prizes… You,the staff and customer service representatives are the best-the cream of the crop! A matching winning number was not returned for the Dec. 25th special early look, so there was no $1 Million winner on Dec. 25th. Our next special early look for a big winner will be in February 2011, and a winner of at least $1 Million will be announced on 2/28/11.

No offend to anyone or to the other blog contributors coz they are also marvelous. I noticed you are very popular and likable because more peoplerespond to your blog. Not to be redundant, everyone will miss that smiling face in the mail, TV, internet and in person. I even saw you on a TV program years ago. You were a lot younger. The program name was Tell THE Truth. You will always be in everyone’s mind especially if they hear the PCH theme song. I’m sure TED, Debbie Eve, Frank, Danielle and the rest of the PCH staff will do very good and will come out with flying colors too but there wii be no other Dave Sayer. Wish everyone a lot of luck and abundant blessings from God.

Dave, I hope you’re sudden retirement is not caused by poor health as youu look perfectly healthy. At least now you can spend more time with your other half, children and grandkids if you have any. More so you can be a PCH consultant and enjoy playing CHOPIN in your grand piano and compose more music and develop your talents more in music. You could also enjoy the beaches in Hawaii, the sunshine in Mexico or just vacationing the Orient, Middle East and alluring European countries. This time your travel is not limited only to the U. S. countries. Anyway have a nice, good and safe retirement. Wishing you all the bountiful happiness in life now and the many more years to come. GRACIAS!

So LONG PCH, I am not goiny to keep my hopes up at every contest anymore.
Good Luck Dave,
