Favorite Holiday Recipes Make Extra Special Memories

Favorite holiday recipes are a part of many happy celebrations and the same is true for my family. At this time of year we plan family gatherings with a host of traditions, like sitting around the fireplace to open presents and feasting on delicious treats at family gatherings around the table.

One of my family’s favorite holiday recipes is a tangy side dish that goes with just about any main course. This year I served it with a pork loin roast, sauerkraut gravy and mashed potatoes. Last year, I served it with roast beef with horseradish sauce. I have also served it with ham and scalloped potatoes.

The recipe is called Cranberry-Orange Jello and has been a part of our holiday meals for 3 generations. It has an excellent flavor and a crunchy, satisfying texture. Plus, it can be made ahead of time and it is very colorful on the holiday table. Here’s the recipe. If you try it, let us know if you like it.

Cranberry-Orange Jello

6 oz. cherry Jello
1 T. lemon juice
½ c. sugar
1 (9 oz.) jar cranberry-orange relish*
1 c. celery diced
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained – reserve the juice
½ c. chopped pecans
2 c. hot water

Mix the Jello with 2 cups of hot water. Stir until dissolved. Add the reserved juice from drained pineapple to a 1-cup measuring cup. Add cold water, if necessary to fill the cup. Add pineapple liquid to Jello mixture and stir. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Chill until firm, overnight, if possible.

* If you cannot find cranberry-orange relish, you may substitute ½ c. orange marmalade and ½ c. whole cranberry sauce.

What are your favorite holiday recipes? Let us know if you’re willing to share them with us, and maybe we can start some new traditions!

Deborah,

I got several bulletins about the $5,000 A Week For Life sweepstakes, and am now hearing about the $1 Million A Year For Life on February 28th. Has that been announced yet for that previous contest regarding the $5,000?

The emails came from PublishersClearingHouse@superprize.pch.com so it appears as though they were legitimate emails from PCH. It’s just so hard to keep up with everything you guys do! =]

    Hi Noura,

Unfortunately, the winning number was not returned for the $1 Million Christmas Advanced Look Draw (Giveaway #1400). Therefore, Giveaway No. 1400 is still ongoing. The only winner on December 25th was Trudy Dinkins of Gallatin, TN for $15,000 (Giveaway #1505).

    Regards,
    Addison @ PCH

Thanks Addison for finally answering others questions on who won the December 25th giveaway. It is truly hard to read how many people need/want to win this sweepstakes and they wait for any word on whether or not someone won. I just wish PCH would remember that and be faster with your responses instead of making people wait for answer when the prize was already delivered way in advance..just a thought…Have a Happy New Year everyone!
