It was recently announced that one of my favorite reference sources, venerable Encyclopedia Britannica, is ceasing publication of its wonderful set of reference books – after 244 years! I’m not that old; but I do remember leafing through thousands and thousands of its pages whenever I had to write a report for school. What a tremendous wealth of the world’s knowledge was contained in those weighty volumes (32 of them in the last edition which cost $1,395).
The demise of this encyclopedia and other weighty reference books has been predicted for years as online sources have proven to offer vaster stores of information to an expanding universe of inquirers – for free. While I feel a tug of nostalgia in saying farewell to some hardcopy pages, I have embraced online reference sources, (especially PCH Search & Win!), probably as much as anyone.
Nonetheless, I still appreciate the tactile feel of a real book and enjoy the immediacy of a colorful or newsy magazine – like the multitude of magazine titles you can get from Publishers Clearing House. Our magazine subscription deals cannot be beat. Just click here to find out.
Here’s something else that’s hard to beat: the mind-boggling amount of information you can get from PCH Search & Win! Anything you wanted from an outdated encyclopedia – and a lot more – can be found at this wonderful PCH website. On top of that, searching gives you chances to win big prizes, even our fantastic lifetime SuperPrize of $5,000.00 A Week for Life! Try searching for magazine subscription deals or anything else, and you could win right now! It’s truly one of the best reference sources around!
So give my enriching suggestions a try: (1) Look at our wide variety of unbeatable magazine subscription deals. I’m sure you’ll find a title or two you’d like – although a purchase is not necessary. (2) Do your next online search at PCH Search & Win, and maybe you’ll be the next person our Prize Patrol visits with the news that “You are a winner in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes!”
All the best,
Prize Patrol Ambassador
