Online Sweepstakes: What Does It Take To Win?

Have you ever wondered what it takes to win the Online Sweepstakes, or even a big PCH SuperPrize?

I have! Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the word “win”. What does “winning” really mean?

Browsing around on PCHSearch&Win — where you get chances to win $5,000.00 Every Week “Forever” plus instant prizes in the Online Sweepstakes for searching the web — I started looking for answers.  First stop, Webster’s Online Dictionary, which defines “to win” as to be victorious in a contest or competition; obtain advantages, such as points; attain success or reach a desired goal; gain something through one’s efforts; to triumph or prevail.  “Winner” is defined as “the victor in a contest or game.” Well, that sums it up nicely!

But defining a winner is one thing. Describing one is something else again.

These days, “winning” often means achieving great things. So a winner could look like a celebrated entrepreneur. A world-class athlete. A Nobel laureate. An award-winning filmmaker… you get my drift. But there’s another kind that’s often overlooked. They don’t make gobs of money or get their pictures on the covers of top-selling magazines.

I’m talking about everyday heroes. They’re the police officers, firefighters and soldiers who daily risk their lives in the line of duty. They’re educators and health professionals who strive to help people enhance and advance their lives. They’re ordinary, down-to-earth people like cooks and clerks, miners and laborers, farmers and factory workers. Young and old, big or little, winners are everywhere — and they look like you and me!

At Publishers Clearing House, our winners come from all walks of life, but they all seem to have one thing in common … a focused intention or drive. What’s the word I’m looking for? Oh yeah — PERSISTENCE! You know that old saying…when there’s a will, there’s a way…it perfectly describes winning our Online Sweepstakes! On PCHSearch&Win, I found a few other quotes that characterize our Big Check winners….

  • A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits. — Anonymous
  • …Let me tell you what winning means…you’re willing to go longer, work harder, give more than anyone else.  – Vince Lombardi
  • …Champions are made from something they have deep inside them — a desire, a dream, a vision. — Muhammad Ali
  • It’s not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference. — Bear Bryant
  • The most distinguishing feature of winners is their intensity of purpose. — Alymer Letterman

Words to live by…especially for our Online Sweepstakes! Because even though some of our lucky winners have won with their first entry, often times our winners enter for some time before they strike it big. If you haven’t won yet, don’t lose hope. At PCH, winning often means never giving up. When there’s a will, there’s a way

I have been entering since I was a teenager. I keep thinking and wishing the next time will be me. I could give each of my family a million and then some friends too and still be content. Hang in and think dreamy

Hi PCH, A winner in my definition is someone who doesn’t give up. You may not get the grand prize, but if you learn from what you are doing, you are a winner. Don’t put your goals so high they cannot be achieved put them within reach so when you attain them you are a winner. Put them too high you will feel, not be, but feel like a loser. My goal is to enter everyday I can, I’m achieving that so I’m a winner!

I dont believe any goal is to high. I do believe that God is the giver of all. Its not luck. My goal is to build a building on my land. where all speak and share. For the kids. If it is God’s will for me to do now or wait. I will, for I do know it will happen. just having the vision I am blessed so I can be a bleasing.

No matter how much I will be win, if one day my fortunate will be coming, I’d be achieve my goal!!!

No matter how my goal will be, its dependent on how much I won!

A loser or a winner are dependent on your luck or dependent on you enter to play!

I was just reading The Pagosa Springs Journal Newspaper and they wrote that they knew about the win a few days before. I thought the winner did not know until the PCH Prize Patrol knocks at their doors. Is the winner notified in advanced before the Prize Patrol gets to their door? Maybe thats why to many Tari didnt look surprised because she already knew.

Winners of $500.00 or more from the real Publishers Clearing House are notified by registered mail or email and winners of $10,000 or more would be notified in person by our famous Prize Patrol with no advance notice.

GREAT that you CAUGHT that!!!! As I read the same & Jussie just wrote you a SCRIPT of what is to be said to all of us when any questions arise!!!! Did your question get answered?????
It never does… just goes around to avoid the question… It might be a nice thing if you answered the question Jessie, rather than evade it….

BUT I still will persevere PCH, IN EVERY respect when it comes to winning one of your prizes…I will keep entering( why should I qit now?? I have been entering since 1967!!) & also keep questioning when I see something that just does not sit right.. Is that not what any ANY entrant has the right to do!!?? If this is an HONEST & UPFRONT SWEEPSTAKES??

I am not a sore loser… just queston things when there is a need for that when it arises… & there are numerous times that questions could be raised.but I did not…but this one just topped it off…

Joyce- I can’t’ deny that I’ve found myself in a situation going on the past 2 yrs that has taken it’s toll in ways I can feel (at the worst of times) overwhelming my entire being. Reading your blog today felt like you knew someone was “out there” in desperation, in accumulated trying times & on the verge of crying from frustration… I would know b/c today I am that person. I suppose one can say I’m used to hardship, I’ll be 29 this yr & I’ve been financially, physically, emotionally & spiritually taking care of my amazingly wonderful Moma since I was 13 turning 14. Still to this day I can’t pin point how or when I naturally fell into this roll but I can say I’ve never had a single a moment (literally not even a single fraction of a second) I’ve regretted. My Mom is fully disabled, she’s nearly 98% wheelchair bound & b/c of her pain, I cannot work secondary due to unforeseen risks. I spend every single day researching, appealing, applying, responding & contacting “everyone’ who can raise her SSI or approve some form of a compensation but it’s been a daunting task with no light @ the end of the tunnel. I have no idea if I’ll ever win but I do know that I probably have a better shot @ changing our lives through PCH than I do anywhere else. I’ve been up going on 4 days now w/ the last form of sleep equally distant in my rear view mirror, an event I avoid at all cost but between our bills w/ no $$, my Mom’s spinal surgery to sprinkle the “kick over the edge” in pain for her & having our government require bizarre scheduling (I think to ignore us lol)… needless to say sleeping hasn’t been an option. So I wanted to Thank You for your blog, it made me grasp a hold of myself before I went into an exhausted crying fit & although I still don’t have the pleasure of going to sleep, I know when I finally do w/in the next few hrs I’ll keep my email as loud as it can go so I don’t miss my winning letter! Positive thinking… =)

I think if you just keep on keeping on, you have won another day of keeping on. Yet, it would be wonderful if that keep on, keeping on entering of PCH opportunities would pleasantly surprise the keep on-er with a windfall from PCH. So, I keep on, keeping on with the entering so perhaps one day I too will be surprised with a windfall from PCH.

    Hi Tara,

To be clear, the SuperPrize is SEPARATE from the DMA giveaway and the Initials giveaway. Both of these giveaways will not be awarded for a few months.

In the DMA giveaway, one individual from each of the 210 local TV viewing areas wins $1000.00 … so yes, someone in your area will win in August! In the Initials giveaway, prizes of $100.00 will be awarded via random drawing from among eligible entrants with initials that match each of the 676 unique combinations of two letters in the alphabet. So yes, someone with your initials will win!

I would love to win from ya all & if i did i wouldn’t change a thing. I would keep helping out people like i always have, and doing fundraisers for those who pass away & need to get buried and have no money to pay for it. I’m also a seamstress and i go to a great many places and do this and always donate the money that is made to the cause. I love to do this knowing how much i am able to help others out. I was raised to do this and will keep doing this as long as i can. Ya all take care & ride safe, Luann

My sister’s mother-in-law was sooo sure that she was going to be a winner that she asked my sister to take the day off from work to be with her. She was afraid that the shock would be so great that she would need someone with her in case she passed out from the shock. It did NOT happen. My sister did take the day off from her job. They both were very disappointed. I hope that no one else takes winning or losing to that extreme. Winning would be very helpful, though.
