Online Sweepstakes: What Does It Take To Win?

Have you ever wondered what it takes to win the Online Sweepstakes, or even a big PCH SuperPrize?

I have! Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the word “win”. What does “winning” really mean?

Browsing around on PCHSearch&Win — where you get chances to win $5,000.00 Every Week “Forever” plus instant prizes in the Online Sweepstakes for searching the web — I started looking for answers.  First stop, Webster’s Online Dictionary, which defines “to win” as to be victorious in a contest or competition; obtain advantages, such as points; attain success or reach a desired goal; gain something through one’s efforts; to triumph or prevail.  “Winner” is defined as “the victor in a contest or game.” Well, that sums it up nicely!

But defining a winner is one thing. Describing one is something else again.

These days, “winning” often means achieving great things. So a winner could look like a celebrated entrepreneur. A world-class athlete. A Nobel laureate. An award-winning filmmaker… you get my drift. But there’s another kind that’s often overlooked. They don’t make gobs of money or get their pictures on the covers of top-selling magazines.

I’m talking about everyday heroes. They’re the police officers, firefighters and soldiers who daily risk their lives in the line of duty. They’re educators and health professionals who strive to help people enhance and advance their lives. They’re ordinary, down-to-earth people like cooks and clerks, miners and laborers, farmers and factory workers. Young and old, big or little, winners are everywhere — and they look like you and me!

At Publishers Clearing House, our winners come from all walks of life, but they all seem to have one thing in common … a focused intention or drive. What’s the word I’m looking for? Oh yeah — PERSISTENCE! You know that old saying…when there’s a will, there’s a way…it perfectly describes winning our Online Sweepstakes! On PCHSearch&Win, I found a few other quotes that characterize our Big Check winners….

  • A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits. — Anonymous
  • …Let me tell you what winning means…you’re willing to go longer, work harder, give more than anyone else.  — Vince Lombardi
  • …Champions are made from something they have deep inside them — a desire, a dream, a vision. — Muhammad Ali
  • It’s not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference. — Bear Bryant
  • The most distinguishing feature of winners is their intensity of purpose. — Alymer Letterman

Words to live by…especially for our Online Sweepstakes! Because even though some of our lucky winners have won with their first entry, often times our winners enter for some time before they strike it big. If you haven’t won yet, don’t lose hope. At PCH, winning often means never giving up. When there’s a will, there’s a way
