What’s In A Name? The Initials Contest Explained!

Someone with YOUR initials will definitely WIN CASH!

Centuries ago, William Shakespeare brought these famous words to the lips of a young, lovelorn Juliet Capulet…

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”

In other words, you could call a rose a steamboat, a turkey, a sneaker, and that wouldn’t take away from the value of it. Basically what Shakespeare was saying was that the value of a rose is not in its name, but in its essence — in the case of the rose, its scent.

Well, sorry Shakespeare, but at Publishers Clearing House, our Initials Contest does NOT work that way. For this contest, it’s all about what’s in a name, specifically, the initials that start your first and last name. Because someone with YOUR set of initials will definitely WIN CASH!

Here’s the “essence” of this particular giveaway: Publishers Clearing House GUARANTEES to announce a winner of $100.00 with the same set of initials as your first and last name. Prizes of $100.00 will be awarded at random from among eligible entrants with a set of initials that match each of the 676 unique combinations of two letters in the alphabet.

How will we do it? At the end of the giveaway, we’ll take all the timely entries and divide them up according to their two-letter initial combination…AA, AB, AC, AD…you get the idea! Then, we’ll hold a random drawing for each combination of initials in order to select a winner for each.

Let’s use my initials as a hypothetical. If I entered on time (and if I didn’t work here!), my entry would be combined with the rest of the entrants whose initials match mine and, with a little luck, I could be the “F.L.” chosen in the random drawing to win cash! And the same goes for your set of initials!

That’s a whole lot of prizes, and a whole lot of cash — a total of $67,600.00 to be exact! It’s true! Take the amount of the award ($100.00) and multiply it by the 676 unique combinations of two letters in the alphabet and you get: $67,600.00!

Publishers Clearing House really is all about making as MANY WINNERS as possible?! Let me count the ways… 676 in just this Initials Contest alone!

Oh, and speaking of What’s In a Name… Remember, the “Initials Contest” (Giveaway #2231), is NOT part of the August 31st “Forever” Prize Event (Giveaway #1830). Different name, different giveaways! But BOTH great opportunities to WIN!

Have you entered for the Initials Contest yet through our PCH mailings or e-mails? If not, you can sign up to receive them at pch.com. Enter today!
