Storm Can’t Keep PCH Prize Patrol From Awarding Big Check!

1_17_Recap

It’s been a bad weather week for much of the country. Rain, sleet and snow have moved from the south into the northeast and are causing havoc. You may be experiencing some of the effects yourself.

Eastern Tennessee saw non-stop rain, flooding and airport snarls on Monday; but that didn’t keep the PCH Prize Patrol from getting to Morristown, TN – despite several delays – and awarding our second Big Check of 2013 to a very surprised Franklin Livesay.  Actually – there were TWO Big Checks: one for $25,000.00 and another for $10,000.00.  The second one was because his win came from a PCH Bulletin that promised a sizeable bonus if the winning entry was returned in a timely manner from that mailing.

The prize presentation took place in the Livesays’ carport, thankfully providing some shelter from the downpour.  Frank, who said, “It’s surreal, I didn’t think it would ever happen,” had to call his wife Sue from the warmth inside because he couldn’t believe what was happening.  She couldn’t believe it either at first; but once she wiped away some tears she realized that a “Publishers Clearing House winning moment” was actually occurring at their house. “It’s beyond a blessing. It will definitely fill a need,” Sue said.

The “winning moment” was witnessed not only by our video-cameraman Shane and a crew from the Morristown Citizen Tribune, but by a local resident Shelly who learned of the imminent award in an unconventional way.  She had been on the same flight as me to nearby Knoxville and saw the Prize Patrol badge on my blazer.  She pried information from me en route and was amazed to hear that we would be coming to her hometown of Morristown.  With the help of her son who met her at the airport, she followed me to the store where our bouquets of roses and balloons were being prepared, then was thrilled that we invited her to come along and see that the PCH surprises shown on TV are 100% real: unstaged, unrehearsed, no second takes. So now Shelly is a believer too.

The Livesays have been believers for a long time – after all Frank is a retired pastor.  But even though he has been entering our sweepstakes for many years, the couple didn’t really expect the Prize Patrol to come knocking at their door.  Now, with the Citizen Tribune’s coverage of the award, we know there will be more PCH believers in that part of Tennessee.

How about you?  Are you a believer?  Enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, and the next Big Check winner could be YOU!  You might even win our fabulous “FOREVER” prize — remember that would mean $5,000 a week for your life, plus after that, $5,000 a week for the life of someone you choose!

Keep the faith, and good luck!
