PCH Makes A Difference With 2013 Mutt-i-grees® PSA Contest!

PCH Prize Patrol joins “paws” with Animal League America for 2013 Mutt-i-grees® PSA Contest!

Hi everyone, I’m Danielle Lam with the PCH Prize Patrol. As you may know, I have a HUGE soft spot for animals, and I know that many PCH fans do too! That’s why I’m so excited to announce that PCH is joining “paws” with Animal League America for the 2013 Mutt-i-grees® “America Adopts” PSA Contest. The idea is to encourage students across the country to create a video message in the form of a Public Service Announcement to help raise awareness about why animal lovers should adopt shelter pets, also known as Mutt-i-grees®.

Schools can help make a difference in the lives of homeless animals by entering this exciting contest. Any schools that teach children from Pre-K through Grade 12 can participate, so please pass the information on if you know any educators, parents or students who might be interested!

So where does PCH come in? By giving away prizes, of course! Within the three age categories (Pre-K & Kindergarten; Grades 1-5; and Grades 6-12), there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Prize. Age category winners will receive educational grants in increments of $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000, respectively – provided by PCH and Warner Bros. Consumer Products.  In true PCH fashion, first place winning schools could get a visit from your very own PCH Prize Patrol AND everyone’s favorite shelter dog…Scooby-Doo! Did you know that Scooby-Doo is a Mutt-i-gree®, too? I was SO excited when I got a chance to take this picture with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy at a local school when they were on tour for their Scooby-Doo Live Musical Mystery Tour. I think the little puppy I was holding was excited too!

Mutt-I-Grees_Your_School_Check

Don’t you LOVE this concept – schools and students getting involved in making a difference in the world — PLUS the opportunity to win a BIG Check delivered by the Prize Patrol and Scooby-Doo?  I absolutely LOVE it, and am honored to be involved in such a great campaign.

Now, you know that PCH loves giving away prizes…and you know that we love our fans…so make sure you stay tuned to the PCHblog and my PCH Prize Patrol Fan Page to hear more exciting news. Here’s a sneak peek: eventually YOU could win a prize, too!  I don’t want to give too much away yet, but I can assure you, animal lovers are REALLY going to enjoy it – and who doesn’t love a chance win?

I hope you enjoyed learning about this great event as much as I enjoyed telling you about it. Now I’m curious…how many of you blog readers are animal lovers, too? Do YOU have pets? Has anyone ever rescued an animal from a shelter? PLEASE comment below and tell me your animal stories. I can’t wait to hear!

Wow!this is so important. To many animals where I live are left out in the streets. My two cats will be approximately 8 years old April 1st. A vet near my house took in these abandoned kittens and I adopted them. They are purrfect. Childeren should be taught and be aware. Shelters are a great place for adoption. Other pet stores hold adoptions for dogs and cats too-it is so sad sad what a huge population. They need lots of love and a forever home.

Hi! Yes I agree it is important to adopt from shelters and before you take them home they are neutered or spayed. I could never say I was an animal lover like Daniel, I do eat meat and I’m okay with hunting when it is for food or safety. I am very leary of wild animals and even dogs where I live. I think people would drive down our road and drop off their pets. I have no problem with the ones if I know where they live. The cat I have now was from our shelter she’s 10, and Angel was also from the shelter. Our dog was from a horsetrailer in the middle of a mans field, (There were 2 litters of puppies in it). We had gone to the shelter first but there were no small dogs, and after great danes, german shepards..I wanted one I could pick up and carry! And since she was the runt of both litters, we may have rescued her. I may say they are pains in the butt, but it’s worth every minute of it, the joy they bring is priceless. They have both brought alot of laughter into our home.

Hi, I have been placing orders with PCH for a very long time but what is going on now the money I mail to Des Moines, IA location the money is not going on my account as paid for each item I order. I called over and over about the money I mailed. The past purchases the money reflected it but now there is a problem. The employees constantly say to me it takes 6 to 8 weeks but your policy says the money is process right away. Please look into this. Thank you,

Danielle… This is really a super way to teach the kids and give them the awesome feeling of doing such an important thing: especially since all children love animals! I am going to talk to Charley so she can tell the principal of her school and see if they are interested. Her school teaches up to 8th grade so she will be leaving this year! It would be so awesome if she introduced this concept on her way out and they accept it! YAY!

Yea about 4 years ago I had a friend who’s dad was a mechanic and he was fixing my dads truck. At one point the mechanic had stoped answering our calls to see the status of the truck. So we paid him a vist , I had never been to his house but when we arrived to his trailer home it was bad the place was in just a bad condition for anyone to live in as we talked to the mechanic at the door we heard a lot of crying.. We asked the owner what the crying was and he told us that he had a baby pitbull puppy living under the trailer . About half an hour later after looking at the truck my friends dad was fixing the puppy crying kept going so my dad ended up going to the pitbull puppy to see what was wrong with it and found the dog in a horrible condition 95% of his hair was gone and open blisters all over her body and at that she was still a puppy :( so we asked the owner if he was going to take the dog to the vet and he said no that he had it under control and was going to dip the pitbull puppy in oil and that it would take care of the hair problem so we asked the owner if we could take the pitbull to the vet and he said no so we felt the dog had less then a week to live at the condition She was in . So me and my dad decied to take the dog and give her the help the little pitbull needed .when we brought her home she wouldnt move, eat or get close to anyone about 2 weeks later progress was even better eventually we named her BABY and 4 years down the road she still with us healthy and strong and the beat desicion for us and the dog because its part of our family .. As I type im petting her and happy :)

I would like to see Spring Hill Elementary in Anchorage, Alaska enter. I will talk to my Grandkids about it.
I adopted a doberman pinscher from the Municipal Dog Shelter about 10 years ago. I named her Dahlia and she was a 60 pound Princess. I lost her a couple years ago to cancer. She eventually had to have her hind leg removed but she had a happy and loved life:)

My wife and I have always loved animals and for the most part we both fell in love with cats. We adopted “Scooter” (RIP) and “Fraidy” 16 years ago and “Miss Kitty” was next. “Coco” was adopted 7 years ago. Summer before last I found 4 cats living under a shed and I fed them for several weeks as they were a bit scared of me. We took “Blackie”, “GW” in. Our Vet bills are high but we love them all. I truly hope your outreach program works!

Forgot one thing….I failed to mention the other two “Girls” “Little Mama” and “Big Mama” who are sisters to “GW” and “Blackie”. I do believe that what Danielle has started is great and hopes that it really takes off at the schools. It would be a great thing for every community and help to take the load off of some of the animal shelters. In Texas all of them are overloaded and under supported…Karen and I love you for starting this project!

Thank you again Danielle for your awesome Blog. It is so nice to meet people which share their love for animals. I have A dog a fish and a 8 year old cat and they all get along. We need to have more people get involved with helping their are so many animals in our shelters which need good homes. I will pray for them to get good homes. But we know their is a great problem with dogs and cats running free on streets and they are not protected by any one. Thank you so much in teaching others about the pets. So every one can take care of animals.

Hi Danielle,
This past weekend I went to the animal shelter. I am looking for 2 chow puppies. Needless to say, they didn’t have any chows. I plan to call them once a week. I can’t remember not having a dog growing up.I have my son’s Lab here supposedly for a short weekend now 4 years. Yes, I said 4 years. This is like a treasure hunt because i am not giving up until I have found 2 brass rings namely my Chows.
