A Golden Egg Opportunity From Publishers Clearing House!

Golden Egg Opportunity from PCH

The latest (and sixth!) movie adaptation of The Great Gatsby is now in theaters – in 3D with Leonardo DiCaprio — and is generating new readership of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel.  Many will become acquainted with West Egg, Long Island, the site of Jay Gatsby’s magnificent estate and lavish parties.

That location strikes fairly close to home.  Let me explain: West Egg, while a fictional place, is just a stone’s throw from Port Washington, Long Island, NY where Publishers Clearing House was founded in 1953 and still operates today — sixty years later.  It’s an idyllic part of the New York area – with lots of waterfront, lovely estates and magnificent yachts in which Jay Gatsby would have felt right at home.  But there are less grand elements around too: a working Main Street, modest homes and simple rowboats.  Harold and LuEsther Mertz lived in “Port” and decided it would be a terrific environment to build a business catering to magazine publishers in not-far-off Manhattan.

The Mertzes’ original business plan called for promoting the sale of “unbeatable” magazine deals to consumers via direct mail.  It took only a few months for the fledgling company to “take off.”  In 1967 PCH management decided to inject a sweepstakes into their colorful mailings to generate even more attention to the magazine offers.  Response not only increased, it skyrocketed.  Cash prizes that were initially a few dollars grew into the millions.  Then PCH copywriters could look at the mansions of nearby “West Egg” and think, “Gee, now we can offer a Gatsby lifestyle to the people who get our mail.”

Well, we didn’t offer lavish parties, but we did offer jaw-dropping fortunes.  “And the rest is history.”  Over the years Publishers Clearing House has awarded nearly $250 million in prizes and made scores of ordinary folks PCH Millionaires. Needless to say, all of them have enjoyed the experience of a Prize Patrol visit, the presentation of roses, balloons and The Big Check, not to mention the financial security it brings.  I should add that our winners may splurge a bit, but they keep their heads on straight; they don’t “get in over their heads” or wind up like Jay Gatsby (whoops, I don’t want to spoil your enjoyment of the movie).

So forget about West Egg; but do NOT forget to go for our Golden Egg opportunity.  That’s right: Many more millions of dollars are up for grabs in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.  Enter to win our Mega Prize — $1 Million Plus $5,000 Every Week For Life — not just today, but every day for more chances to win.

Wishing you the best of luck.
