Hi everyone! This is Matt K. from PCH Creative. We’ve all seen the winning moments of our fantastic SuperPrize winners on TV or maybe even on YouTube. But what happens when the Prize Patrol leaves and the winner is Forever Changed with this incredible windfall of serious money? For the past few weeks, I’ve been interviewing some of our past winners and asking them what DID happen after the Prize Patrol van rolled away! We’ve been finding out how they reacted, how their lives were transformed, and what they’ve been doing now that they couldn’t have done before. This week’s inspirational profile is with Karen Anderson, a SuperPrize winner from 2011!
It is always important to set goals in life, but as I like to say, “to truly achieve, you have to believe!” I have always thought that one of the best ways to build up your faith in yourself is to announce your plans to the world in a big, loud voice! I don’t know of any other Publishers Clearing House SuperPrize winner who exemplifies this better than Karen Anderson!
For years, Karen had wanted a swimming pool. “When I was growing up, there was a certain circle of friends I knew that had it all – tennis courts, horses, and swimming pools. What I really wanted was a swimming pool! To me, that was the epitome of richness.”
As the years went by, Karen never gave up her dream. She began pestering her husband about it all the time, and as soon as he gave in, she made them drive to the pool contractor that same day! They had never gotten one before because the money wasn’t there, and even at THIS point, the pool was going to be a bit of a stretch.
“All of my [extended] family told me I was crazy. They said that I couldn’t afford it! But I just told them, ‘well don’t worry, because one day I’m going to be a millionaire!’ And guess what- I was right!”
Now that’s what I call positive thinking!
Before winning the Big Check in 2011, Karen had been entering the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes for many years. Her husband used to buy lottery tickets, but still would poke fun at her for entering PCH. “We would have the same conversation every month – eventually he got the hint!” I guess Karen got the last laugh!
The $1,000,000.00 from Publishers Clearing House came just in time – when she was announced the winner, Karen had just lost her job. Winning made her able to pay for much needed medical expenses and personal care services in the following years.
“I always tell people that I am eternally grateful to Publishers Clearing House for the blessing they’ve given me. Everyone needs to enter – keep believing!”
As you can see, Karen is a great example of positive thinking. She used to always tell people she was going to go on a tour of Europe. She went on a small European vacation a year or two before her big PCH win, and now thanks to her Big Check, she hopes to complete her tour with a Mediterranean cruise in the years to come!
P.S. – We all have things we tell our friends and family that we want to achieve. I tell people all the time that I’m going to get in shape! What is something you tell the people you know? Share it in the comments below!
