MORE ABOUT OUR PRIZE PATROL 25TH ANNIVERSARY WINNER

First of all, I want to send a big congratulations to last week’s winners: Connie Kiesser, who won $1,000,000 in our November 26th prize event, and John Kutz, our 48-Hour Millionaire! I’ll be back on the blog later this week to tell you all about their exciting winning moments, but for now, I’d like to look back on another special delivery that happened just a few months ago.

Virginia Hall Prize Patrol

You see, sometimes space limitations prevent us from telling more of a story. Take our blog on September 23rd for instance. It told about how we surprised Virginia Hall of Madison, VA, with a $10,000 prize to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Prize Patrol’s first trip. What it didn’t tell you was why people around town are so fond of Virginia.  It’s because she has lived in Madison practically her whole life and she writes a friendly, chatty column (“This About That”) for the Eagle, the local newspaper.

After her September 18 win Virginia had the perfect topic for her next column – read it yourself to see what I mean. Virginia’s column tells how she always thought that the PCH “winning moments” she saw on TV were “set up,” that somehow PCH notified winners in advance of a forthcoming Prize Patrol visit.  Now she knows that our Big Check presentations are a total surprise. “They’re real,” she told our video camera referring to the Prize Patrol standing there in the flesh.  Then she smelled the roses and added, “Even they are real!” Virginia’s little dog Pickles was also excited – showing some nervous protectiveness at first, but quickly adapting to the likelihood of extra doggie-treats.   That’s the way it is with most dogs we meet on Prize Patrol – and we meet a lot of them!  Even the most ferocious among them decide it’s in their best interest to be welcoming and not to block the delivery of roses, balloons and The Big Check.

Thanks for writing such a fun column Virginia.  I’m sure that our Sweepstakes Entry Processing Center is going to see a giant increase in response from Madison, Virginia! Now … I hope that Virginia Hall’s experience will encourage YOU to enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes today — and every day — for your chance to be our next Big Winner! Wishing you the best of luck.
