PCH Customer Appreciation prize award makes Chicago suburbanite feel like she’s in a Winter Wonderland!

While spring is in the air already in some parts of the country, the chill of winter still lingers in other areas.  That reminds me of a frosty day in January when the Midwest got a real taste of winter with the arrival of a giant snow storm – fueled by Canadian winds and chills.  Motorists in Chicago grumbled over the treacherous driving conditions as snow covered the roadways.  Shop owners decided to close early – except those merchants who sold snow shovels and salt.

Mystery Guests from PCH Would Stump a Game Show Panel

I think the Game Show Network has stopped airing reruns of that old TV show “What’s My Line?”  But if that popular favorite — which originated in 1950 on CBS — was to be resurrected, we PCH Prize Patrol’ers would love to be mystery guests on the program.  Our jobs are so unusual we’d probably stump the panel and walk off with some prize money – which would be nice since we’re not eligible to win a penny from our employer Publishers Clearing House.

Of course we love our jobs and would gladly perform them without the bonus of prize money. That’s not just because “it’s more blessed to give than to receive” but because it’s exciting and fun delivering roses, balloons and Big Checks that can change people’s lives.

I can imagine the blindfolded celebrity panel from the game show asking us questions like “Do you deal in a product?  Or a service?”  Hmmm – how to answer them.  Yes, our company sells products (wonderful magazines and merchandise).  But we also provide a fantastic service: delivering huge sweepstakes prizes to winners of our famous sweepstakes!

A follow-up question might be “Is what you deliver bigger than a bread box?”  That silly expression, now a part of the American lexicon, was first posed by the late Steve Allen on “What’s My Line.”  I would have to reply that what we deliver is much, MUCH bigger than a bread box. (I mean $1 Million Every Year For Life is A LOT of bread!)

After the celebrity panel had exhausted their allotted questions and we mystery guests had stumped them, they would remove their blindfolds and admit that ours is indeed an unusual occupation.  Yes, they had seen us on TV delivering huge sweepstakes prizes, but we are not the typical delivery men who bring pizza or overnight packages to the door.

Time for Holiday Songs

It’s time again for holiday songs, and we have a new one for you – The Prize Patrol Is Coming To Town!  Yessirree … And this time they’re coming with a $10,000.00 shopping spree!

Even though Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and I’m always sad when it’s over, there is so much to look forward to after the big day. My two favorite things are: a holiday shopping spree and radio stations that start playing holiday songs 24/7! I can’t help but sing and dance along any time Jingle Bells, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree, and The Hannukah Song come on.

This year though, I got to thinking that there really should be a holiday song about our Online Sweepstakes company.  So friends…inspired by one of my favorite holiday songs Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, here is The Prize Patrol Is Coming To Town!

You better not cry

Better not pout

Black Friday Advice Let PCH Help You Get In The Black

Here’s some Black Friday advice from the PCH Prize Patrol.

“Black Friday” is what the retail business calls the day after Thanksgiving.  Shopping malls look forward to it because – if sales are good – their financial prospects for the year go into the profitable “black” rather than into “the red.”  No wonder newspaper ads and TV commercials are beckoning bargain-hunters to their doors in the wee hours of the morning.

Today I have three pieces of Black Friday advice for you:

1. If you have your heart set on a particular sale item, get to the mall early.
2. Or avoid the malls altogether by starting your holiday shopping at pch.com where you will find a tremendous variety of value-priced merchandise and discounted magazines – each one super-convenient to order when you shop online at PCH.
