Gamers, Meet Janice: Our Gaming Guru!

Those of us who enjoy playing free online games rarely think about what it takes to bring those games to our computer screens. But to make a game site fresh, easy, and compelling and FUN, a lot of decisions go into the process. At Publishers Clearing House, one of the primary gaming decision-makers is Janice R.

As Director of Online Marketing for the PCHPlay&Win properties, Janice is a driving force behind, you guessed it, PCHgames, PCHlotto and PCHslots. Her mission: to deliver engaging free online games you love to play and as many chances to win as possible. “For PCHgames specifically, we want our gamers to feel like it’s a place where they can come to relax and have fun,” Janice says. Sounds like a gaming vacation to me!

So just what kinds of games are offered? “We cover all the popular categories, such as Solitaire, Mahjongg, Slots, Trivia, Strategy, Arcade, Sports and Casino. If you like to play fun games, we have a game for you!” says Janice.

How does Janice and her team choose the specific games? “We develop new games based on those our users currently love to play.” For instance, Mahjongg is very popular, so in the past few weeks, Janice and her team launched a new, classic Mahjongg game and another called Jolly Jong 2. And wouldn’t you know, the gamers are loving them!

How do they keep gamers coming back for more? “We have a robust calendar of events so that gamers are rewarded as they play throughout the month.” For instance, Janice’s team loves giving away tokens that players can use to enter our monthly Sweepstakes. “When we brainstorm new events,” she says, “we try to think of any fun holidays, how we can give away tokens in an enticing way and reward users for playing different games.  Also, we have a monthly tournament game where we typically give away over $2,000.00 in prizes!” GAME ON!

Speaking of tournaments, Janice — a wife and proud mother of three — is training to run a half-marathon this summer! That kind of energy transfers itself to PCH, where she and her team are striving to bring you more tournaments, more gaming excitement, and more ways to win instantly!

Coming up with FREE online games plus great opportunities for REAL chances to win REAL money — BIG MONEY! — is Janice’s forte. But what she really loves is listening to what you, the gamers, want!

“I would just like to say thank you to our fans. You really make my job fun and rewarding. I always appreciate your feedback — it’s gratifying to hear how much you love to play our games, and it’s amazing to hear from our winners.  I promise that I will continue to make our PCHPlay&Win sites even more fun, with even more prize winning opportunities!”

So c’mon, share your thoughts with Janice below. And as always, happy gaming to all!

Roll Up Your Sleeves — PCH Hosts Annual Blood Drive!

Though PCH employees are always hard at work trying to bring the most exciting contest opportunities to our loyal fans, many took the time to donate blood last Thursday during our annual blood drive.

Most folks know Publishers Clearing House as a company that gives away millions of dollars to people all across America. But PCH also loves donating money and supporting worthy causes. And PCH employees love to roll up their sleeves and support blood drives.

So, just how important is “rolling up your sleeves” and donating blood to communities across America? I did a quick search at PCHSearch&Win and found these statistics from New York Blood Center:

  • 4.5 million Americans benefit from life-saving blood transfusions each year
  • 40,000 pints are transfused each day in the United States
  • 1 out of every 3 people will require a life-saving transfusion during their lifetime

Everyone has a different story for why donating blood is important to them. My story happened on Thanksgiving Day in 1981. My mother woke me up early in the morning telling me that my sister had been in a car accident and that she was in the hospital. When my parents and I got to the hospital we found out that my sister’s injuries were life-threatening. On Thanksgiving Day, doctors removed her spleen and repaired her liver. She needed massive transfusions because of internal bleeding.

I donate blood because I know how important it was to my family on that distressing Thanksgiving Day. Curious about my fellow PCH employees, I asked around. And surprisingly, the silly group of jokesters actually gave me some serious answers!

Bryan T. said, “I give blood simply because it is one of the easiest things a person can do to benefit those who are less fortunate (health wise). The rewards and feelings of accomplishment far outweigh the inconvenience of taking 40 minutes out of a busy day to really do something positive.”

Lawrence Y. said, “I just want to help others who need it. I feel good helping others.”

Matt S., who works as a copywriter, said he donates blood at the Blood Drive because he feels “It’s my duty as a human being.” Those are very serious words for someone who is the office prankster and who usually walks around with a mischievous grin.

But of course one person in the bunch had to give me a silly response. Ellen S. said she donates blood “for the free Oreo cookies.”

One reason so many PCH employees turn out to donate blood is Bryan T. For years he has been working as a Blood Drive Captain, encouraging his fellow employees to “roll up your sleeves”. Though he’s a gentle giant, he rarely takes no for an answer.

Normally 60 to 70 Publishers Clearing House employees sign up to give blood. But on May 3rd, we had 115 people ready to donate!

That’s a record-breaking number! And that’s the way Publishers Clearing House likes to do things. Whether we’re giving away millionaire-making SuperPrizes® … donating money to charity … or donating our blood … we feel our loyal friends and our community deserve nothing but our VERY BEST!

How about you? Do you roll up your sleeves to donate blood?

Sincerely,

Elliott M.

Our Busy Bees Are Working Hard To Give You More Ways To Win!

At Publishers Clearing House we’re working hard to bring you more. More ways to win, more exciting prizes, and more entertaining Online Sweepstakes web experiences!

Our great maintenance crew has been instrumental in helping us meet all the challenge of giving our fans the best web experiences possible. They often have to demolish office space and rebuild it in record time to help PCH employees meet ever-changing demands.

You’ll Find The Busy Bees In “The Hive”!

One work area was recently redesigned and rebuilt so that PCH.com creative staff could be located in a more centralized work hub. The PCH creative staff has given this new area the nickname “The Hive” because it’s filled with “busy bees” working hard to create the best Online Sweepstakes experience for you possible!

“By putting writers, designers and programmers together in a centralized space, those workers can more easily get each other’s advice,” said Ellen S., Creative Director. The result: More of the exciting and rewarding web experiences that PCH fans have come to expect. And more ways to win!

Before “The Hive” We Needed “The Cave”!

But before “The Hive” could be built, all our “busy bees” had to be temporarily relocated into a small side room for two weeks. Though some might have thought the cramped space would have been uncomfortable, the Online Sweepstakes employees made the best of it. They shared a lot of laughs as the PCH building crew went to work on creating the new office space.

In just two weeks, five building maintenance workers disassembled old work spaces … ripped out old carpeting … painted … put in new carpeting … re-wired for faster computer networking … and installed new workstations.

The Buzz From The “Bees”!

“All I have to do is turn around to get the advice I need from a coworker,” Joyce W. said.

“When I have a work problem, I can easily get three to four coworkers together to brainstorm solutions,” said Rich K.

Matt S. is enjoying The Hive’s new workspace. “It’s so much easier to organize ‘magnetic’ dart games with more players,” he said.

Time For Some “Constructive” Advice!

Now that all the construction is over, how do you think the creative busy bees should use the new efficiencies to make your PCH web experiences the best they can be?

Are you hoping for:

Make sure to comment below to let us know what YOU want to see!

Sincerely,

Elliott M.
