Danielle Lam Loves National Pet Week!

Hi everyone, it’s Danielle Lam of the Prize Patrol!  If you follow my Fan Page on Facebook, you probably already know that I love giving PCH fans a behind the scenes look into life at PCH Headquarters and even my life – especially my ADORABLE pets!

Speaking of pets, did YOU know that this week is National Pet Week? It’s true! The goals of National Pet Week are to promote responsible pet ownership, celebrate the human-animal bond, and promote public awareness of veterinary medicine. Being a passionate pet owner myself, I made sure to have my newest puppy Shelby spayed.  According to a result I found through using PCHSearch&Win, spaying your dog is better for your pet’s health and will directly reduce the number of dogs that are euthanized in shelters.

I have a feeling that many of you PCH fans are pet lovers just like me.  I have met many furry friends on my Prize Patrol travels to deliver BIG Checks to lucky Sweepstakes winners all over the country.  Jeff Jones and Jinji French had a house full of excited dogs barking away the day Jeff won $100,000 in October 2010.  The Jones’ pets were even caught playing around during their winning moment.  I was enthusiastically greeted by the adorable dogs of Lou and Ann Lacerra the day they won the $10,000 Thanksgiving prize in 2010. Karen Anderson a $1 Million winner from February 2011 also shares my love for animals and used her PCH winnings to get a Chihuahua she named Nicki. So many PCH Sweepstakes winners are pet lovers!

So if you have a pet, or are thinking of getting a pet in the future, what better time than National Pet Week? And what better time to head over to PCHSearch&Win to learn about responsible ownership: find training tips, local parks, and answers to pet related questions because it’s important to stay informed as a pet owner.  At PCHSearch&Win you can find whatever you want – AND at the same time, you get a daily entry into the PCH Sweepstakes! It doesn’t get better than that, right? I wish you all the best of luck … and of course, to all the pet lovers like me, a very happy National Pet Week!

You ever notice when you walk with your dog everyone smiles at you, says hello, stops to talk with you. But when you are walking alone people pass you by and don’t stop to talk with you. Doggies are great ice breakers for meeting new friends. rescued dogs have been the best ones for my family. We love love love rescue Doggies !

I may be responding a bit late but as far as I’m concerned every week is pet week.

I now have a Maltese, 4 1/2 years old who was just diagnosed with diabetes. I adopted her about 7 months ago. I have to give her two Insulin shots a day and bring her in for blood curves. So far she remains on pretty low doses of insulin.

However, taking care of a diabetic dog is a daunting task. I fear for the worst but hope for the best. I also fear loving, then losing, my dog. I lost an animal once before and I’m still not over that.

I’m 66 years old and on public assistance. I’ve discovered that caring for an animal with a chronic illness is an expensive proposition but, as long as I’m able to care for her, she will have a loving home.

Thanks to all who share their love of animals. It’s a bond between the pets and ourselves that can never be broken.
