Make Friday the 13th Your Lucky Day with PCHSearch&Win!

Greetings, Searchers!

Yes, today is Friday the 13th … perhaps the unluckiest day in the calendar. At least that’s what some people say.

So off I went to PCHSearch&Win to find out why today’s date has such a lousy reputation.

There are several theories about the origin of the Friday the 13th superstition. One states that it is a combination of two older superstitions: 13 is an unlucky number and Friday is an unlucky day. Another theory says that the popularity of Friday the 13th derives from a book of the same name written back in 1907.

There is a word to describe a fear of Friday the 13th: friggatriskaidekophobia!  (Frigga is the name of the Norse goddess for whom “Friday” is named, and triskaidekophobia means the fear of the number 13).

In Spanish-speaking countries, however, Tuesday the 13th (martes trece) is considered your unlucky day. In Italy, Friday the 17th is considered a day of bad luck (In Italy, the number 13 is considered a lucky number!).

Because some people refuse to travel, or even get out of bed, on Friday the 13th, it is estimated that $800 million to $900 million is lost in business on this day.

But who says Friday the 13th has to be unlucky?

Let’s turn things around and make Friday the 13th a lucky day – starting right now at PCHSearch&Win!
