Catching Up With PCHLotto Winner — “It’s Still Like A Dream”

On December 12, 2012, (12/12/12!) I was thrilled to lead the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol to the door of Gerard Rivera, the PCHlotto winner of the $1.25 Million Jackpot. While this exciting, free-to-play website has winners every day, this was PCHlotto’s biggest prize yet.

Gerard is a friendly young gentleman and, like all our PCH winners, a real pleasure to know.        I recently telephoned him to see how he was doing nearly two months after his “winning moment.”  Here’s a look back to refresh everyone’s memories!

He was glad to chat and reiterated his sincere appreciation of the whole experience.  “It’s still like a dream,” Gerard told me. “But [in my case] dreams DO come true!” He then recounted how he and his wife had often talked about what it would be like to win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.  “What if the Prize Patrol – and that Dave Sayer — arrived with the flowers and balloons? And a Big Check?  Would we change if we suddenly came into a fortune?”

Well, I DID arrive – and Gerard says that sensation was really “weird.  It was such a surprise to see you in person.”  You can read more about Gerard’s “winning moment” on the PCH Blog.

Did Gerard have to worry about being changed by a gigantic cash windfall?  No sir: I can tell you, he is as nice as ever.  But several things have changed: The Riveras have relocated from Philadelphia to South Florida to be nearer to family and enjoy the warmer climate.  On top of that, Gerard now has the financial resources to invest, to buy a new home and consider a new business opportunity.  His wife and children are very happy in their new surroundings.  And while the excitement of winning made the first few nights difficult to sleep through, he says “I can now sleep better.”

I can imagine that many of you reading this blog would consider all of this “like a dream” if it happened to you.  And it could!  Gerard entered our sweepstakes “every day” he says, and you can too.  So don’t waste a minute: Click here on these links to pch.com and PCHlotto and start playing!

Wishing you the best of luck.

Hey Dave, You Folks Are busier today (2/28/13) than a Cranberry Merchant In July!

It’s Great to hear that Gerard & His Family are doing well & enjoying financial success!

It’s pretty hard going for a lot of us folks out. Being 60,disabled & a single, very late-in-life Mom, it’s hard to make ends meet…especially since Social Security took 1/3 of our income – because my son turned 19-yrs-old…even though he’s a senior in high school & won’t graduate until May 2013! Our rent is 1/2 of what I get each month. I’ve applied for some assistance – which pains me to do…have had to put my pride aside & reach out for help!

My story isn’t much different others you hear from…We’ll all make it, as The Beatles put it…”With A Little Help From Our Friends!”

Hope You & The Other 2 PCH Elite Prize Patrol Members Get Some Good Rest – And will wait with “Bated Breath” To See WHO The $10K PCH Prize Winner Is Tomorrow! Ta Ta For NOW! :D

    Best Regards, Joye H.
