Tax Free Prize Awarded to Online Sweepstakes Entrant in Appleton Wisconsin

Persistence paid off for Richard Maigatter (pronounced “My-gator”) last week when Dave Sayer of the PCH Prize Patrol arrived unannounced at his Appleton, Wisconsin home to present a $100,000.00 Tax Free Prize. Mr. Maigatter played the PCH Sweepstakes online five times a week for the past 10 years, hoping one day his entry would be selected as a big winner.

“Somebody does win. There is a winner. Today it’s me,” Mr. Maigatter declared. Then he rushed inside to call his wife who wasn’t home for the surprise winning moment. He couldn’t wait to tell her the good news, especially because she used to think he was wasting his time for sending in a daily online sweepstakes entry. “I don’t think she’ll feel this way anymore!” he exclaimed.

The Tax Free sweepstakes prize will be paid in two checks. The first one is for $100,000 and a second check will be issued in an amount adequate to cover the tax.

The surprise winning moment was covered by the Appleton Wisconsin newspaper, called the Post Crescent, and NBC affiliate in Green Bay/Appleton, WGBA. Here’s a link to the local news story about the newest Publishers Clearing House winner:
