What Happens If I Win and I’m Not Home?

One of the most frequent questions we get asked here at Publishers Clearing House is “What happens If I Win and I’m Not Home?” Because this is SUCH an important question, we had the PCH Video Group put together a new video to answer it for you. It’s part of our new “PCH CHAT” series staring Howie, and the Prize Patrol! Watch below to find out what happens.

As Danielle and Todd explained in the video, if the winner isn’t home, the Prize Patrol does NOT give the prize to someone else. What they will do is WAIT for the winner to come home. Often times, they have to wait a really long time, which is what happened with Rory Bellamy, our $1 Million winner from November 2012, and Pam Barton. Can you believe the Prize Patrol waited a whole weekend for Pam?

In some cases, the Prize Patrol has even tracked winners down at work! Can you imagine getting surprised with a Big Check in person at your workplace? That’s what happened to our $10,000 winner Carol Copeland who the Prize Patrol surprised in front of a classroom full of students!

So remember everyone, the Prize Patrol ALWAYS finds their winner. So keep playing  and YOU could be next!

  1. Hi! The address on my account is my postal address. How would you find me if I were to be a winner? Do I have to change my postal / mailing address for my residential one?

  2. I just received a call from someone saying he was Dave Sayer. Most people have to go to Washington DC to pick up a prize but they were in Columbus Ohio and they would come to me. First would be a UPS brown and yellow truck with a check, second would be a tow truck delivering a 2023 GMC truck I’d won and the third would be the Prize Patrol in a van along with Terry Bradshaw they wanted me to go to rite aid and buy a federal something card for $499 and Terry Bradshaw would hand me a brown envelope with keys, certificates, and $750. I told them I had the cash have Terry Bradshaw come up to my door and knock and then I’d believe it and the guy hung up on me.

  3. 1 received a text message from Ronald Schwartz saying that I had been randomly selected and could get up to $450,000. He also gave me a list of information that he would need in order to receive my package. The information he was asking was for my mother’s name and my bank name not the account but I thought that was odd I believe it’s a scam.

    1. Hi Donna, you’re definitely describing a scam. The real PCH doesn’t notify our major prize winners via text, phone, standard mail, email, or social media, and we never ask for money to claim a prize. Please report any details you have about that scam contact to us at this link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH.
