Interview With Prize Patrol Deputy Dillon Stone!

We work with so many great people here at Publishers Clearing House, so chatting with them is always one of my favorite things. That made my assignment for today even better, because I got to interview my friend and co-worker (and Prize Patrol deputy) Dillon Stone!

I’ve interviewed many PCH winners in the past, so it’s fun to switch gears and talk to a fellow PCHer and hear about their experience!  So without further ado, let’s see what she had to say!

Hi Dillon! Thanks so much for sitting down and chatting with me today. Our readers have seen you out and about with the Prize Patrol and on “Inside PCH” too! But we thought it would be fun to get to know you a little better. Could you tell our readers what your job is here at PCH?

Hi Matt! I’d love to. Self-proclaimed “Jill Of All Trades”, I do a little bit of everything here at PCH. My official title is Senior Promotion Development Analyst, but what that really means is my position allows me to be a part of many facets of the company on any given day. I have a big role in the Online Testing world, where I help facilitate and develop test plans and test results for the online package development group. I also am a part of the PCH Blog team, where I write blogs on a regular basis and schedule our blog content to the portal so all our readers get fresh and excited posts to read not just once, but TWICE a day!

There are a lot of other miscellaneous things I do, one of my favorites being sending out press releases and media alerts to local media once we know where our winner lives! We invite the media to join us on the award, so they can televise the winning moment and interview the winner! And of course, like you mentioned, I make appearances on Inside PCH, deliver prizes across the country, and even represent the Prize Patrol on shows like The Steve Harvey Show!

Awesome! What’s your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part of my job is probably coming to work every day knowing that this day will be a little different than the last. I don’t ever feel like my job is mundane or tedious, because there is too much excitement happening around me!

So you’ve been on Prize Patrol a number of times. What were you thinking during your first trip?

My first Prize Patrol trip was with Danielle Lam and we went to award $10,000 to Dave Raffa from Pennsylvania. It was a really interesting first experience for me, because although I thought we’d be surprising the winner at his home, we ended up surprising him at a bar that he frequented! Needless to say, I was hooked on the excitement and the fact that ANYTHING can happen on these trips!

What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you while you were on the road?

It’s not SO CRAZY, but I think the craziest thing that happened was when I awarded Joseph Fritts of Maryland. He wasn’t home at the time, and his wife told us he wouldn’t be home until much later that night. We had a flight to catch, but we didn’t want to miss our winning moment, so we canceled our flight and waited around for HOURS for Joseph to come home. Finally when he did, he was over the moon to have won! It was well worth the wait and the late flight home!

You’ve been on Inside PCH too! What is it like appearing on the show?

Inside PCH is such a cool experience to be a part of! Our studio team does such a great job of making everything look amazing and seamless. Appearing on the show is always a little nerve-wracking, but definitely LOTS of fun!  The adrenaline kicks in for sure.

What do you tell people who ask you how to win from PCH?

I tell them ….”well do you enter…?” if they say no, I ask them what they’re waiting for! I usually tell them the easiest way to enter is to go to pch.com! I also like to mention that they can enter from the PCH Blog while reading our awesome blog content that we post daily!

In fact, you can do that right now, just by clicking the “enter” button you see in the upper right- hand corner of this page!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our chat with Dillon today! But remember what she said, the easiest way to enter is to go to PCH.com! Take advantage of the daily opportunities we give you every day, and if you’re selected the winner, Dillon might just be sending out a press release about YOU some day!
