Meet Doug Butcher, Our Newest “Forever” Prize Winner

On yet another wonderful “PCH Pay Day” (October 26) the PCH Prize Patrol was on Florida’s east coast to award our new “Forever” Prize Winner Douglas Butcher.  With a little help, we tracked him down in a wooded park a few blocks from the modest apartment complex where he rents a single room.  There he was in his pick-up truck, on his cellphone and not totally prepared for the life-changing “winning moment” about to happen.

“Are you Doug?” we shouted through the truck’s window.  “Yes” he nodded and stepped out, a bit unsteady on his feet

Who wouldn’t be a little shaky seeing the Prize Patrol guys whom he had seen on TV and online but never expected to meet in person?  And there were cameras, balloons, roses AND a Big Check declaring Doug the winner of $2,500 a week “forever” – meaning $130,000 a year for the rest of his life and after that a similar amount for someone he names.

“Phew,” said Doug as he leaned against his truck to keep from fainting.  He had previously won $5 and $10 by religiously playing at PCH websites like Search & Win but never expected this!

Doug has worked in construction in various parts of the U.S. and has been living on a meager subsidized income for years.  With his newfound affluence as our latest Forever Prize Winner he has a lot to think about, but his top priority is moving into nicer living quarters.  Then he wants to finish a book he’s been writing, perhaps adding a chapter (“or another whole book”) on the day’s events which he describes as “an answer to a prayer.”

Congratulations Doug, and welcome to our huge and ever-growing family of winners!  And to the rest of you, do what Doug did: “Keep playing!  Be persistent! And never let go of your dreams!”

Wishing all you PCH Blog fans the best of luck.
