I Received A Check From PCH. Is It Real?

As you know, PCH gives away much more than our big millionaire-making SuperPrizes! That’s right, we award lots of smaller cash prizes each and every day to lucky winners across the country, and the number keeps on growing!

Even though we award our SuperPrize winners live and IN PERSON – not over the phone or via email or social media – for the most part, some smaller PCH prize checks are sometimes sent via overnight delivery service using UPS and Fed-Ex – as well as standard U.S. Postal delivery service. So it’s not surprising that one of our blog readers commented the other day and said: I received a check from PCH. Is it real?

Know How To Recognize The Real Deal!

Yes, it’s only natural to be somewhat skeptical when you receive a check from PCH. Especially when there are people out there waiting to take advantage of those unsuspecting consumers.  Our goal is to prepare you so that you may recognize and avoid sweepstakes scams at all cost! And the number one way to know the difference between a REAL PCH prize check and a FAKE PCH prize check is this ….

Warning Sign: You Are Told You Need To Send Money To Claim Your Prize Money!

At PCH the winning is always FREE, so we would never request payment of any kind!   Remember:  You NEVER have to pay to win a PCH prize. The REAL Publishers Clearing House awards YOU the money, no strings attached. We would NEVER ask you to pay some kind of fee or tax in order to claim a prize, whether through the mail, email, telephone, or any other kind of communication.

And you can take that to the bank!

  1. Hello. My name is Chris Z$$$$. Yesterday, I received as part of an order package a piece of mail from PCH. Inside the envelope, that was attached to the order package, were flyers and the Official Payment/Entry-Order Form as well as a scratcher and my first four year Anniversary Prize Certificate, letting me know that I can win a 10k anniversary prize plus $1,000.00 for every year I have been with PCH. I would like to know if this is legit or not. I’m leaning more to it actually being legit. Also enclosed in the PCH envelope was my invoice order form.

  2. I got a message from Mike Allen Clark. He said he was from PCH and had opened up a new Facebook account. I don’t know if I should call and get the info so I can report him to the scam department. I did look him up and only found a man who died and was a song writer.

    1. Hi Danielle! I am really happy that you knew that it was not the real PCH who contacted you! We never notify major winners over the phone or through standard mail, email or Facebook. We would really appreciate it if you would send us the details of this scam call you received. PCH does not send private Facebook messages to our fans so please complete a Scam Incident Report. Here’s how: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. There are a lot of scammers out there who use the good name and reputation of PCH, as well as the names of those of us on the Prize Patrol. Please be careful everyone!!

    1. Hi Danielle! Thank you for contacting PCH. In order for us to assist you with your question we will need a bit more information. We kindly ask that you contact us at your convenience. Our customer service representatives may be reached at http://bit.ly/ContactPCH. We look forward to hearing from you.

  3. We received a check for 7,000.00 and a letter with a security code to call a specific phone number included in the letter, because we were second place winners of 2.5 million. We spoke to a Jessica Williams, case manager. She asked our name, and the security code number. She verified that we were the second place winners at PCH. She told us to deposit the check, then to call the number back and ask for her. Richie Jenkins is the Chief Financial Officer.
    Is this a scam?

    1. Hello Patricia! That is definitely a fake check scam – do not deposit that check as it will bounce. Please report all contacts from scammers to PCH via this link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. PCH does partner with the Federal Trade Commission and we send all scam reports to them so please make sure you let us know anytime a scammer contacts you. Remember, the real PCH never notifies major prize winners via phone, standard mail, email, or social media, and we never ask winners to pay to claim their prize. You can see more Safety Tips here: https://bit.ly/FraudProtection2. Please be careful everyone; don’t become a scammer’s victim.

  4. I received a letter stating I won $2,500,000 and a check for $7,800 to cover insurance and attorney fees. It says to contact your claims manager, with 3 different phone numbers, before depositing the check. It looks like a scam.

    1. Hello Corrine! That is a scam letter with a fake check enclosed. 5. I received a call from someone saying that they were you, and that my rep was a Christopher Marsh and that I were to call $ $$$ $$$-$$$$ so I did and left a message. They were saying that there was a cashiers check waiting for me of $2,000,000 but I have been aware of scams, so I did not give any information but my phone number and the PCH$$$$ that I was given. They said that they needed to verify my address but I again thought scam. Everything is too good to be true so please let me know if this is a scam so I can block the number.

    1. Hi Michele! That is not the real PCH calling you; it’s a scammer that’s only pretending to be from PCH. Please do not call that number, do not give the scammer any personal info including bank account information, and definitely do not send them any money if they ask. If you haven’t already done so, please report that scam contact to us via the following link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. I encourage you to read these Safety Tips too: https://bit.ly/FraudProtection2. Please be careful, and stay safe!
