It All Started With A Texas Prize Winner

In August of 2008, we launched the PCHBlog with our first official article titled “Another Texas State Winner” that chronicled one of our Texas prize winners. That was about a year and a half ago and since then Deborah, Dave and a few other PCHers have been writing multiple weekly blog posts telling you about all the exciting news that happens here at PCH. That amounts to a lot of blogging and never a dull moment!

To make sure that we continue posting plenty of fun articles, I’m happy to announce the addition of two new writers to the PCHBlog team. Elliot and Elaina work in our PCH Online department and are more than qualified to write for the PCHBlog as they are Copywriters for our online sites. We’re of course very happy to have them helping out. So to make the introduction a little more interesting, I asked them a few questions. See their answers below.

Elliot’s responses:

How long have you been working at PCH? I’ve been working at PCH for about 15 years. I would consider myself an old timer.

What’s your all time favorite PCH moment? Wow! There have been so many wonderful moments working for PCH! Maybe it was my first day working for PCH.com. I was one of the founding members in 1999. It was exciting starting something so new! Or was it was the first time I delivered a “Big Check” as a Prize Patrol Deputy? Could it have been the day I saw the PCH Prize Patrol featured on Oprah? Am I rambling?

What do you do at PCH? I help write the advertising for PCH.com. I write about the contests, along with the magazine and merchandise deals.

What are some of your hobbies? I enjoy writing stories. I even did a little story writing for DC Comics. I just finished a children’s picture book. Any book agents out there? LOL I also volunteer as an academic mentor to high school kids who have a few challenges.

What would you do with a Million Dollars (remember as PCHers we’re not eligible to enter our Sweepstakes)? I can’t win the PCH Sweepstakes, of course, because I’m an employee. But if I COULD win a PCH SuperPrize, I would (1) start my own comic book company (2) write a cool action/adventure novel (3) spend my days working as a literacy volunteer.

Elaina’s responses:

How long have you been working at PCH? I just celebrated my two-year anniversary with PCH!

What’s your all time favorite PCH moment? After Doris Gray won the $5,000.00-A-Week-For-Life SuperPrize® last year, she and her family visited our offices in Port Washington, NY. As they were presented to the crowd of cheering PCH employees, I remember welling up with tears of joy for the Gray family, knowing they would never have to worry about issues that affect many families, like job-loss and the expense of sending children to college. She seemed so kind (and grateful). It was an honor to be able to shake her hand and wish her well.

What do you do at PCH? I write copy that is used on some of the Publishers Clearing House online sites and email programs.

What are some of your hobbies? I love spending time with my family. I have two young children, ages 7 and 4 and they never cease to amaze me with their inquisitive minds and excitement for just about everything. I also love creative writing, but don’t spend too much time on it these days. I must confess, I have about a dozen half-started manuscripts saved on my laptop. I’ll finish them someday, sigh ….

What would you do with a Million Dollars (remember as PCHers we’re not eligible to enter our Sweepstakes)? I’d definitely share with family, friends and my church. Then I’d retire and spend my days playing with my kids and writing children’s books!

That wraps up this post. Make sure to keep an eye out for future posts by Elaina and Elliot! As always, let us know what you think.

Regards,

Frank Alb
