Winning Number Found Report

A Winning Number Found Report is generated by the Publishers Clearing House mainframe computer after a prize drawing if an eligible, matching winning number has been returned.

Have you ever wondered how the Publishers Clearing House SuperPrize drawings work?

It all starts with your PCH Sweepstakes entries. Every sweepstakes entry we receive is processed with care and a secure, electronic record is kept on our Contest Audit File. This file contains each entry’s identifying numbers and date of receipt.

How is a winner identified? On prize drawing day, a winning number is randomly generated for the giveaway. If a matching number is found on the Contest Audit File, the computer sends a Winning Number Found Report to Maryann Carter of the PCH Contest Department. After the entry’s eligibility is verified, as set forth in the Official Rules, a new SuperPrize winner is identified! The wheels are then set in motion for a PCH Prize Patrol delivery, and an unsuspecting new winner will soon receive the surprise of a lifetime.

What happens if there’s no match to the winning number? Unfortunately, not everyone who receives a SuperPrize Number sends in a sweepstakes entry. If no match is found on the Contest Audit File, our computer sends a Winning Number Not Found Report to Maryann Carter.

That’s why we often say “Don’t risk forfeiting millions of dollars!” Can you imagine how you’d feel if one of your SuperPrize Numbers ended up being a match to the winner and you had not sent in that entry? You don’t want your SuperPrize Number to end up on a Winning Number Not Found Report!

When there’s a guaranteed award of a base prize or the full amount and no matching winning number, Publishers Clearing House awards the prize to an alternate winner randomly selected in a second chance prize drawing among eligible entrants. Our newest millionaire, Joseph Beane, won the August 31st SuperPrize on a second chance drawing.

So, make sure you send in your Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes entry every chance you get! That’s the only way to make sure each and every one of your SuperPrize Numbers is on the Contest Audit File, ready and waiting to be found if it’s a match to the winning number.

Good luck!

  1. Well today is Labor Day, Happy Labor Day PCHers. and I have this really good feeling that I am going to win something this month from pch I dont know when this month and I dont know how much it will be but I just feel it in my happy toe Lol!

  2. This year, when you relive the winning moments..
Joe Beane and Jon Knostenberg both postal workers one winner from St.Patrick’s Day, the other the end of Summer winner, 2 winners in Appleton, Wisconsin can really have fun with the holiday letter this year to the tune of 12 Days of Christmas..
Thanks for clarifying the “Winner Number Found Report” but I still think the BEST thing PCH ever did was go on 20/20 or Dateline in the 90’s with Bob Castleberry and show actualy what happened though the process of a winner found. I remember that because the was the days before VCR for me, and I marked my calendar to watch it because I wanted to know how it was actually done.
I think the winner on the TV Show ended up being David Koobs. It truly was interesting and everyone then knew how PCH choose their winner and we got to see Bob Castleberry’s ranch and his banding iron for his steers was shaped like the PCH logo. Last year HGTV even showed how they choose the Dream House winner and for some reason people felt better about who actually won. Sometimes people need to SEE rather then READ how things are done..just a thought with all the problems that non-winners feels after every sweepstakes that ends..

      1. “A *SMILE* can start a conversation without saying a word.”
“WOW!” is all I can say -for once I am actually typeless..
        “Have a Great Day, Deborah”

  3. I love playing pch sweepstakes….. I hope everyday that one of these days the prize patrol will surprise me and I would be so honored to be able to help so many other people and my family with the winning money. 5000 a week for life would be the biggest dream come true. I hope to hear the announcement about whoever won… I love to see new winners. I pray one day I will be that winner. Hopefully I will see you soon. Good luck to everyone who plays pch sweepstakes.

  4. Do you ever come to hawaii!! Because I haven’t seen a winner yet from this state! Is to far!lol!! Well as for me I’m still faithfully waiting for my chance to win! Wish you all luck! Hope they come to the aloha state someday!

    1. Hi Chihuah,

We have had prize winners in every state. At Publishers Clearing House our winner selection process is completely random and unbiased and is conducted by independent auditors and Giveaway Supervisors. We have no way of determining who our winners may be or where they may come from. Our most recent winners can be found on the top of our web site on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link.

  5. I’m glad to hear I still have a chance to get a blessing that could change so many lives, with seven blessings to take care of sometimes it gets a little hard to provide and try to show them life is not bad and to keep a positive attitude with everything they do,if I’m still in it, this is a very big blessing and I want to thank GOD in advance in JESUS name I pray AMEN.

  6. I received an email from Prize Patrol Elite communication for me. I tried to click on the seal and it said processing and then it goes to another website called Building idea into products and another window popped up for a facebook survey. I wanted to know if my entry was processed? I did not complete the two pop up pages.

    1. Hi Shameka,

You are automatically entered into the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes when you click on the link provided. The link contained your entry information. Keep your eyes open for the page that says “Processing Entry” or “Information Authentication”. Please keep in mind that our promotional e-mails are good for a one time entry only and once you have processed an entry through that e-mail you should then delete it so that you do not try to re-use it on another day.

After your entry is processed, you may be redirected to a non-PCH advertisement which may be of interest to you. Please be assured that your participation in the offers on the advertising partners website is completely optional! There is no obligation to provide any information or make any purchase – if you do not wish to do so. If you do not wish to continue viewing the advertising partner’s offers, simply close their page. Please note if the advertising partner’s site does not load up, it does not affect your entry.

  7. all the people that enter on line and threw the mail and no number was found i enter i don’t know how many times a day i must really have bad luck

    1. Gail: You are truly not alone with this one…feeling a wee bit UNLUCKY also. I even tried REAL Scratch Cards the other day to see if I could even win a FREE TICKET. NOPE, I wasted $5.00 in the end. The only thing I truly get from this is that I am ruling out Las Vegas, Fox Woods, Atlantic City etc etc as places I want to gamble on for a vacation. MY ODDS are totally against me! I can still dream and hope, that life really hasn’t been that unlucky for me as PCH seems to be and I will go to EXTREMES to make sure I will always be able to say in my life this: “Ya know I honestly TRIED at everything I did—
I didn’t always win at times
but I always gave one heck of a TRY!” -Games on Gail, “Let’s Go!”Time to get the next entries
      (unfortunately I have to work!)..*smile*

  8. Hi PCH , and thanks again for such a glourious opportunity to dream what it would be like winning this sweepstakes. Not only would it change my life , but so many lives of the people around me and the City of Houston / State of Texas. Always as ever prayful and hopeful as ever. I want to take time to congradulate the recent winner form Las Vegas. Hope to see the Prize Patrol Van at my door for the 10 million dollar sweepstakes giveaway; Thanks again PCH and best of luck to all entrants!

    1. Hi Bertrand,

The winning number for the $5000 a week was not returned. Therefore, a second chance random draw of $1,000,000 was awarded.

All draws are awarded on the date specified in the Sweepstakes Facts that comes with each entry as per our official rules. In the event of an “Advanced Look”, a SuperPrize number is drawn and, if the winning entry has been returned, the prize is awarded. If the winning number was not returned, the prize rolls over to the next draw date. If the prize is not awarded on any of the “Advanced Look” draw dates, the prize will be awarded on the end date specified in the Sweepstakes Facts. Please watch our mailings and online promotions for future announcements.

Our most recent winners can be found on the top of on the scrolling bar and under the “Winners Circle” link. You may also view some of our winning moments at:

      1. Will there be another chance to win the $5000 a week for life sweepstakes? What about the $10 million prize, when will it be awarded? Winning one of the sweepstakes mentioned above would be one of the best things to ever happen to me. I would be able to buy my sister and her husband a nice house close by. The distance between here and there is 260 miles one way. Family should not live that far away from each other. So, I will enter into every contest PCH sends me.

      2. Hi Michelle,

Giveaway 1400 has an official end date 2/29/12. What this means is that there must be a winner of this giveaway by this date. However, we can award this prize anytime before that date. This is stated in the sweepstakes facts every customer receives.

Multiple times throughout the year we may advertise different dates for this giveaway. These are commonly referred to as Sneak Peek Draws, Early Look Draws or Advanced Look Draws. What happens is we do a draw for a number and check to see if there has been an entry returned with that number. If there has been a matching winning entry, we award the prize and that giveaway ends right there. If there has been no winner, we carry the prize over to another date. This can go on until we reach the official end date and at that time we guarantee that there will be a winner.

Now to address the multiple prize amounts. You may receive multiple entry opportunities into our ongoing Giveaways. Various presentations of these Giveaways using various prizes/prize values may be presented to the public (such as $10,000,000.00 or 5,000.00 a week for life, etc.). However, only one of the amounts will be given away. We figure out how to award this prize after we draw a winning entry, we look at the mailing in which this prize was advertised and that is how the payout is awarded.

The reason we currently have many ways to have this prize award is because this adds some excitement and mystery to the giveaway. An entrant may have entries with all the different amounts advertised, so if they do happen to be the lucky winner, not only will the fact that they won surprise them, the payout method will be surprising!

        Jodi @ PCH
