Visit the Wild West with Two New Western-Themed Games

PCHgames brings a touch of the Old West with the addition of two new games – Mahjongg Wild West, which you can find under the “Matching” games, and 52 Card Pickup Giddyup, which you find under the “Cards/Solitaire” games.

In fact, if you’re a fan of PCHgames – and really, who isn’t] – then you’ve probably noticed the addition of a bunch of new games. The games designers here in the PCH Creative Department have been busy at work to make sure you always have a fun and rewarding experience when you come to play at Publishers Clearing House.

One of those flexing his creative muscles is Head Web Designer Tom Kasperczyk, the creator of both Mahjongg Wild West and 52 Card Pickup Giddyup!

Mahjongg Wild West

“I’ve always been fascinated by the Wild West; things like cowboys working the land, cattle rustlers, saloons, and the things I’d see in Red Ryder and other Western comics. There’s still a great deal of nostalgia for the designs and music of the era, so that was my inspiration for creating Mahjongg Wild West.”

How the (Mahjongg) Wild West (Could Be) Won

Tip #1: If you get stuck, use the “Shuffle” and “Hint” buttons to uncover and identify new matches.

Tip #2: Match the two “Bonus” tiles for a big boost to your score.

52 Card Pickup Giddyup!

“With 52 Card Pickup Giddyup!, I wanted to create the atmosphere of a Wild West Saloon; carousing, playing cards, and hoping Lady Luck is on your side,” continued Kasperczyk. “With the old-timey piano music, I wanted players to feel like they’d just hitched up their horse to the post and walked through the swinging doors.”

How to Get Down with Giddyup!

Tip #1: Try to clear the cards sequentially. For example, if the card on top is a 5, try to remove the cards in either of these sequences:

  • 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A, 2, 3, etc.
  • 5, 4, 3, 2, A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, etc.

You may have to guess on a card that is covered, but it won’t happen often.

Tip #2: If two (or more) of the card you need are visible, pick the one with most showing as it will do more to uncover cards beneath it.

And there you have it pardner! Leave a comment and let us know what you think of Mahjongg Wild West and 52 Card Pickup! Giddyup.

Now it’s time for me to saddle up and ride off into the sunset!
