Wave That FLAG DAY Is Here!

Hello there searchers!

Ever wonder why all of a sudden the entire neighborhood is decorated with waving American flags? It’s FLAG DAY of course!

I bet you’re all just dying to know how and why this holiday got started. I know I was!

So I of course went to trusty PCHSearch&Win to find out for myself.  Was I surprised to learn from The National Flag Day Foundation (yes, it’s official!) that it started way back on June 14, 1885 in a Wisconsin schoolhouse, where 19-year-old schoolteacher Bernard J. Cigrand arranged for his pupils to observe “Flag Birthday”. That day was the anniversary of when Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777.

The idea then gradually caught on and was observed with state and local celebrations for three decades.  In fact, in the late 1800s, schools all over the United States held Flag Day programs to help with the Americanization of immigrant children.

On May 30, 1916 Bernard Cigrand saw his lifelong dream come true, when President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation calling for a nationwide observance of Flag Day. But it wasn’t until August 3, 1949 that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of every year as National Flag Day.

Well then, there you have it. I think we should all celebrate this special day by thinking about the real meaning and majesty of our flag and to spend time learning how to show the proper respect for the flag of the United States.

I have to admit that I get upset when I see torn and tattered flags still on display, or worse, still raised after sunset without proper lighting. If you love our flag like I do, please search online about the proper ways to display the American flag and the right way to dispose of an old flag.

The American Legion is a great source of information on this. And they’re dedicated to making sure the proper ritual is observed for “the disposal of unserviceable flags in a dignified manner”.  I say, hats off to them!  And if you’ve ever been fascinated by the precision and care shown by our military forces when they perform a ceremonial folding of the flag, check out the symbolic meaning behind that, too!

I know I had fun finding out all these fascinating facts. And it was so easy to do on PCHSearch&Win.  Don’t forget that the more you search, the more chances you have to win incredible instant cash prizes, plus valuable merchandise and gift cards. Now that’s something to celebrate!

So, this week is a pretty busy week. Monday was my anniversary. Very grateful. As well as sunday is my son’s 2 year old birthday. I’m so happy for all my blessings that I have now, but I would be the happiest person alive to win the mega prize or at least anything from PCHsearch&win. I use this site everyday and still have yet to win..I won’t give up hope though, every day is a new opportunity and I’m not going to stop till I get mine or/and my moment. Me and my family would be do great if we won. But its all of our dreams to win. So keep dreaming big and searching!!! I know I will 🙂
