#WinnerWednesday: PCH Newbie Tangie P. Of Dunnellon, Florida Doubles Over After Winning $100,000

When Dave Sayer of Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol surprised Tangie Pate and her husband, Mike Davis, on their property in Dunnellon, Florida, Tangie doubled over and started laughing with excitement as soon as she saw the balloons and back of the Big Check worth $100,000. Tangie posed playfully with the Big Check. “Don’t I look lovely?” she asked. “This is amazing… I literally just got laid off from my job two weeks ago.” Tangie said that, although just a beginner, she was diligently playing games until one closed and the screen notification read that there was a winner in Florida. “Oh, just let it be me,” she said. “I know they’re going to drive down my driveway!”

The timing of Tangie’s win couldn’t have been better because her brother and sister-in-law are renewing their vows in Jamaica. “We had to cancel because I just lost my job and we didn’t want to spend the money,” said Tangie. “But now we’re going to Jamaica!”

What would Tangie say to people who think people don’t really win at Publishers Clearing House? “I was kind of, sort of one of those people, but I always had hope,” she said. “I believe whatever is meant for me will come to me. Someone has to win. Why not me?”
