Last Updated: October 4, 2017

With 2017 nearing its final months, gadget lovers wait anxiously for fall and winter to arrive with the latest cool tech gadgets in tow. As you might expect, the holiday shopping season is one of the most popular times of the year for tech companies to reveal their latest and greatest creations.

Want to know what exciting tech gadgets have already been released, or are expected to be released before the end of 2017? Here are the top five gadgets you’ll want to include on your gift list this year.

 #1: iPhone 8

The latest iPhone is not only highly anticipated because it’s the latest iPhone; 2017 marks the 10th Anniversary of Apple’s groundbreaking phone. So, iPhone fanatics are expecting some major changes to their favorite device this year. Here’s a list of some of the expected features:

  • Glass body
  • Edge-to-edge 5.8″ OLED display (on one model, the other two models have standard displays)
  • 10-nanometer A11 processor
  • Facial Recognition
  • Wireless charging
  • No home button

#2: Samsung Galaxy Note 8

After the disastrous exploding phone debacle Samsung went through this year, one would think the company would shelve its Note line. But, this isn’t the case. As a matter of fact, the company is already set to release its latest Galaxy Note 8 this fall, and Samsung needs this phone to be a game-changer if the company wants to save face with its customers. The phone is expected to have a huge 6.4” display, the Bixby Voice app right out of the box, a dual camera mount, and a digital stylus (S-Pen).

Other smartphones sure to generate some excitement this fall include Google’s Pixel 2 and the titanium-bodied Essential Phone.

 #3: Apple’s HomePod

Google has Google Home, Amazon has its Echo family of products, and now, Apple is entering the Wi-Fi Siri-enabled speaker game with its HomePod. Expected to arrive in December, the HomePod is expected to be compatible with Apple’s HomeKit system and work with an Apple Music subscription.

 #4: Xbox One X

In December, Microsoft is set to release its most powerful gaming system to date – the Xbox One X. This new console will be able to output true 4K resolution so you can enjoy all of your Xbox One games in greater detail and clarity. It will also be able to play 4K UHD Blu-ray discs as well, a feature the PlayStation 4 Pro will be lacking.

#5: OS Systems Galore

This fall and winter will bring with them several core operating system upgrades. For instance, Android is going to be rolling out its Android O operating system and it is being said that the upgrade will improve battery life, provide picture-in-picture video, and provide easier controls for notifications. Apple’s iOS 11 is also expected to be released in September. This update will provide iPhones and iPads with a new control center, better live photos, an improved Siri, Apple Pay via messages, and more. Microsoft’s Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is also on its way this autumn, as is the newest MacOS, High Sierra.
