A Big Check and Balloons From PCH – The White House Wish

Last Updated: November 2, 2010

Distributing Big Checks is second nature to the PCH Prize Patrol. But in a recent White House press conference, spokesman Robert Gibbs was asked his opinion on how the Obama administration’s tax cut was actually delivered to Americans. In describing how such a cut might have been improved he expressed with a twinkle in his eye a wish that the Publishers Clearing House Big Check approach would have gotten a better public reception than the route chosen. (It was dribbled out over time in people’s paychecks.)

“Would I have liked to hire somebody to knock on everyone’s door like the Publishers Clearing House guys — with the Big Check and the balloons?” said Gibbs. “Sure, maybe it would have had a greater effect said Gibbs. “Obviously the marketers got kicked out of that meeting.”

Well, our Prize Patrol knows that nothing beats the thrill – not to mention the usefulness – of a giant cash windfall from PCH. We’ve awarded over $225 million worth of prizes. That’s a lot of Big Checks – and balloons and roses and champagne.

Whenever our Prize Patrol is in the Washington DC area they often remark how fun it would be to knock on the President’s door and see how he’d react to a Prize Patrol surprise visit. Would he say, “OMG” (like virtually everybody else) or jump up and down, or cry, or say ‘What took you so long?” But the security around the White House hasn’t allowed them to get past the big iron gates – as much as all the guards think it would brighten any First Family’s day. In any event, whether you are the President or just an average hard working citizen you can’t win unless you return your entry!

You might be thinking, “Well, no president that I know of needs a Big Check from Publishers Clearing House more than I do. So save yourselves some trouble and just hurry up to my front door.”

We hear you, blog-reader! So make sure you enter the PCH Sweepstakes! (“You can’t win it if you’re not in it.”) Just click on this link to pch.com and enter today – and enter every day for more chances to win.

Wishing you the best of luck.
