Making Dreams Come True: A History Of Giving Back At Publishers Clearing House
You’ve seen them on TV, in advertisements, and maybe you’ve even been lucky enough to meet them in person! If you haven’t already guessed, I’m talking about the famous PCH Prize Patrol, who travel across the country making winners dreams come true! Those life-changing winning moments are moments PCH prides itself on, but did you also know that PCH prides itself on its mission to give away money to those in need? It’s been a PCH tradition for over 60 years and I’m here today to tell you all about some of the history of giving back here at Publishers Clearing House.
When you hear the term “giving back,” many tend to think of food drives, fundraisers and events all of which PCH also organizes and prides itself on! In this instance, however, I am referring to PCH’s very own campaign, The Giveback which began back in 2011. The idea behind the very first Giveback event was to let our loyal customers and fans reach out through social media to have a voice in PCH’s charitable efforts. If you couldn’t already tell, it was wildly successful!
Fast forward to the next few years and The Giveback became an annual PCH campaign and continued to let fans decide which charity would receive donations. With so many amazing charities to choose from, it was an exciting time for all! When 2012 came along, 2012 PCH added St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® to the list and in no time, it became the fan favorite!
Since it was clear that a trend was emerging that charities benefiting children were of high importance to our customers and fans, in 2014 PCH decided to focus The Giveback campaign SOLELY on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®!
Now, fast forward to present day and I’m proud to tell you that PCH has donated $750,000 to date to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® and we’re not done yet! This year’s The Giveback campaign will be returning soon and we’re so excited for this year’s donation. Keep an eye out for the PCH Blog, our Facebook Live Show Inside PCH and, of course, PCH.com for all the details!
