The “Big Check” Sweepstakes Prize Isn’t Made for ATMs

Last Updated: October 4, 2013

Taking the “Big PCH Check” to the bank thrills the winners and tellers, not the ATM’s

Right on the heels of the “winning moment” and phone calls to family and close friends, winners of the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes prize decide that they must get that sweepstakes prize money into the bank without delay. Some will look at their watches and say, “Hmm. I’d better hurry. The bank closes soon.” They never want to wait a day or two for that big cash deposit to start earning interest.

On a few occasions the sweepstakes winners have taken the big cardboard check to the bank. They have a favorite teller or friends who work there and know they will be flabbergasted by what has occurred in their hometown. I remember one teller at a bank in Cairo, Illinois, who came running and screaming from behind the counter to congratulate our sweepstakes prize winner. “I can’t believe it! I can’t believe it!” she cried. “It’s true!” our sweepstakes prize winner exclaimed. “Look, here’s the Prize Patrol!” she said introducing us to bank employees as our video cameraman taped the excitement.

Naturally the “Big Check” can’t be deposited in an ATM. Instead it gets framed and hung in a place of honor in the winner’s home.

Do you have a wall picked out on which to hang your Big Check? Should you win, you’ll want to showcase it as a reminder of that wonderful day when the Prize Patrol arrived with roses and balloons and announced “You are a winner in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes!”

Here’s a picture of sweepstakes prize winner Carmela Sutter and family with her Big Check. This one is for $10,000 – but you could win much, much more, even $5,000 A Week for Life!
