What Happens If I Win and I’m Not Home?

One of the most frequent questions we get asked here at Publishers Clearing House is “What happens If I Win and I’m Not Home?” Because this is SUCH an important question, we had the PCH Video Group put together a new video to answer it for you. It’s part of our new “PCH CHAT” series staring Howie, and the Prize Patrol! Watch below to find out what happens.

As Danielle and Todd explained in the video, if the winner isn’t home, the Prize Patrol does NOT give the prize to someone else. What they will do is WAIT for the winner to come home. Often times, they have to wait a really long time, which is what happened with Rory Bellamy, our $1 Million winner from November 2012, and Pam Barton. Can you believe the Prize Patrol waited a whole weekend for Pam?

In some cases, the Prize Patrol has even tracked winners down at work! Can you imagine getting surprised with a Big Check in person at your workplace? That’s what happened to our $10,000 winner Carol Copeland who the Prize Patrol surprised in front of a classroom full of students!

So remember everyone, the Prize Patrol ALWAYS finds their winner. So keep playing  and YOU could be next!

  1. I was called last night by someone from PCH saying I am a winner. I’d like to verify this call with someone. No request for money, credit cards or personal information other than my name and address.

    1. Hi Rochelle! That is not the real PCH calling you; it’s a scammer that’s only pretending to be from PCH. Please do not call that number, do not give the scammer any personal info including bank account information, and definitely do not send them any money if they ask. Please report that scam contact to us via the following link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. I encourage you to read these Safety Tips too: https://bit.ly/FraudProtection2. Please be careful everyone; don’t become a scammer’s victim!

  2. Wow, I got a message that had my address down perfectly and I thought for sure I would have won something, but nothing ever happened. Then someone supposedly from PCH said I had to fill out a survey, but it became too personal, so I quit the survey. Guess its good I got out of it.

    1. Hi Janet, it sounds like you were contacted by a scammer. The real PCH doesn’t notify our major prize winners via phone, standard mail, email, or social media, and we never ask for money to claim a prize. Please report any details you have about that scam contact to us at this link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. I also encourage you to check out these Safety Tips for some great info on what to watch for: https://bit.ly/FraudProtection2. Stay safe!
