Does PCH Notify Winners Before Showing Up at the Door? NO!

Hello, PCH fans and friends! We want to remind you of an important thing to remember about WINNING BIG.

“Is This for Real?”

Let’s say you’re sitting in front of the TV after a long day, taking it easy watching your favorite show, when the phone rings. You look down at the caller ID and jump right out of your seat. Is this for real? Could it possibly be??

Can you believe it, they say they are Publishers Clearing House! Calling with news about your BIG PRIZE! Did you really just win One Million Dollars?

HOLD UP, don’t fall for that call! Scammers LOVE to try to trick people (like you, loyal PCHers) with advance notifications about winning prizes or big money from PCH. It’s one of the most common scams we see around here.

That’s right, buddy!

How We DON’T Contact You

Besides calling you on the phone, scammers will send texts and email, or even privately message people to tell them they’ve won. Would you believe some scammers go so far as to mail phony letters with fake checks inside? PCH never does any of those things, so that’s how you can recognize it’s a scam.

Also, do NOT answer a friend request from Danielle or Howie – the Prize Patrol and PCH don’t send friend requests. We do happily interact with fans on our official blue-check social pages (just don’t post any of your personal info there!).

So Let’s Say It Once More…

Publishers Clearing House will NEVER notify winners of major prizes ahead of time. NEVER. You’ll know you’re being scammed if you receive a phone call, text or other alert from someone claiming to be PCH with a Big Check with your name on it. Chances are they’re going to ask YOU to send THEM money in order to claim the prize.

Remember, at Publishers Clearing House, winning is 100% FREE. ALWAYS. We will NEVER call you asking for money to claim winnings. Don’t fall for the friend request from someone masquerading as a Prize Patrol member. It’s FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.

Remember, there’s only ONE WAY to find out if you’ve won a SuperPrize from PCH – if the Prize Patrol shows up at your door with a Big Check in your name! Scammers are smarter and more relentless than ever, so we urge you to stay safe and vigilant, and never EVER respond to a notification that you’ve won a prize or answer a friend request. We can’t emphasize it enough!

We’re all In It to Win It… but safely!

  2. Thank you for your information. I have a photograph of Pamela. I mean, Danielle, I am. He’s holding a picture and a $100000 for life and a Ford pick up. But since it’s all big, it’s too bad. But thank you for your input. That was great and I appreciate it.

I was called by Reynold (914 676 $$$$). He told me I had won the 1st prize which was $7,5 million dollars, plus Mercedes Benz, plus 10 thousand dollars a week for life. He told me I had to open a new bank account with a bank that I had been a customer for 5 plus years. Told me I could deposit $25.00 to $50.00 to prove the account was active. Once a week $10,000 would be deposited directly into the bank along with money to pay the taxes on the $`10,000. I asked when the prize control would be here to deliver the vehicle and the $7.5 million dollars. He told first to get the bank account sat up, call him back and the date and time would be assigned. He said I was not to tell anyone, not my spouse, not any one.
Thought it was strange that the government would pay taxes on the $10,000 and not to tell anyone. I called my son and described what happens and he said “MOM it is a scam!” He explained to me the reasons this was a scam. My son told me to get on line at PCH scams. I did and immediately realized that I was almost scammed. So thankful I called my son. About 2 hours later my phone rang. The ID number was (914) 676 $$$$, the ID caller on my TV said that this number was a possible scam. I next received a call from Amaganaet, NY, I answered and Mr. Dawson asked me why I was hanging up before he spoke. I told that I had gotten and line to research PCH scams and that he was trying to scam me. Of course, it denied it and some bs about why the PCH purposely put this on their website. I told him I did not want the prize winnings. Thank goodness I was able to find out about how prize awards are actually awarded to winners. The PCH website was a great tool in describing how PCH scams are performed by dishonest people.

  4. Hi I just got a second call from he said Dave Miller from PCH. He is in Indianapolis. Was wondering how he got my cell number because if I use any number it is the house phone. Told me I had won a big prize. Wanted me to write something on paper. I could only half understane him and told him so. I was giving him a very rough time which I love doing. I do believe it was a big scam. The number he called with is 876-492-4679. I looked it up and it was from some off the wall place. I am real sure it was a scam.

    1. Hello Ruth, Thank you very much for reporting the scammers that have contacted you. Stopping them is a team effort and we are happy that you are doing your part. The real PCH doesn’t notify our major prize winners via phone, standard mail, email, or social media, and we never ask for money to claim a prize. While it may be tempting, we don’t encourage you to interact with them any more than is minimally necessary. Simply tell them that you know they’re not the real PCH and hang up or disconnect your mode of contact with them. 5. I received a call from Peter Watson at 215-250-6207 and he told me I won the 2nd place PCH drawing. My prize package # is 282559USACAPCH. I was instructed to call Reverend Tony Brown at 508-377-6934 ext 5 to get my prize information and instructions. I called the number and he said I won $13.5 million dollars and a mercedes convertible. He asked what color I wanted. They will deliver the check and the car on a flatbed truck. Oprah Winfrey and Steve Harvey will be delivering this anniversary 2nd place drawing prize to me!!! He said I needed to go to one of several stores he named, I told him a CVS was close. He said to take ID, my prize number to the CVS to get a state tax form and then an American Express Gift Card to put $999.99 on it for the 2 US Treasury Officials Mary Cooper and James Cother. After I get the gift card, I needed to go to my bank to get a gold star (?). He assured me he is helping me to be ready for their arrival. I told him I was going to hang up and understood what I needed to get for the prize patrol. He kept telling me not to hang up. I told him I will have everything ready and hung up.

For a few minutes, I was excited until he told me I needed to buy a gift card. I guess I am not going to meet Steve Harvey and Oprah. The only people that will be coming to my door tonight are trick or treaters.

    1. Hello Angie, We’re glad you knew that wasn’t the real PCH. As tempting as it may be, we don’t encourage anyone to engage a scammer any longer than is minimally necessary. Stopping these scammers is a team effort and we ask that you report all scam contacts to PCH via this link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. Stay safe everyone and be careful of scammers pretending to be the REAL Prize Patrol!

    1. Never stop trying. My mom and step dad are 82 and do not act their age because they are still looking forward to what the next day will bring. They both still work and I believe their hope, faith, whatever you want to call it, keeps them young. That is reward enough in my mind. I hate that there are people that want to scam others. But I have always felt at least a little joy in the possibility that is out there. So that is why I still enter these. I think I’ve been doing it since I was 18! You can’t win if you don’t enter. If nothing else, it gives you something to look forward to. Until the next one…. You are too young to give up. Life is full of all kinds of possibilities, if you look for them. Just my two cents. Best wishes/God bless.
