PCH Gives Back in 2017 in So Many Ways!

Last Updated: December 26, 2017

Greetings, fans and friends!

Everyone knows that PCH has given away millions upon millions of dollars in prizes. But did you know that PCH also gives back all throughout the year to those in need? It’s a tradition established over 60 years ago by Publishers Clearing House’s founders Harold and LuEsther Mertz. This year, the PCH family was actively involved in giving back in a variety of ways, and here are just some of them:

PCH Gives Back to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

Thanks to the support of fans like you, PCH was able to reach our goal for the Give Back this year and present St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with an incredible $150,000.00 “Big Check” right here at our headquarters in Jericho, NY! We’re proud to say that we’ve now donated $750,000.00 in all to this very worthy cause! Check out this “Thank You” message to our fans from Danielle Lam of the PCH Prize Patrol!

PCH Gives Back through Volunteer Efforts

  • Earth Day Activities: On April 21st, PCHers celebrated Earth Day by donating books and magazines, as well as travel-size toiletries and cleaning supplies, to various charities. PCH also gave employees a Voluntary Time Off opportunity to work with the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference, helping to maintain a local trail – an activity that I was eager to participate in (that’s me in the center, above)!

  • PCH Volunteered at North Shore Animal League’s Adopt-A-Thon!

On May 7th, PCH volunteers pitched in to assist with North Shore Animal League’s annual Pet Adopt-A-Thon, working the concession stands and other fun activities. The event was a big success – hundreds of animals were adopted that weekend thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, including our group of PCH volunteers!

  • “Giving Tuesday”: PCH celebrated “Giving Tuesday” on November 28th! “Giving Tuesday” is a globally recognized day that begins the charitable season of giving back to others. This year, PCH teamed up with Rock & Wrap It Up and donated over 1,500 units of toys for local families in need!

  • The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) Mary Brennan Soup Kitchen: Right before Christmas, PCHers distributed pallet-loads of useful items from our excess inventory – from frying pans to kitchen towels to pillows … even men’s and women’s watches – to those in need. The smiles on the faces of the “guests” who received these gifts were heartwarming indeed!

And that, fans and friends, is just the start! I haven’t even mentioned the charity events held at our other locations in New York City, Boston and Portland, ME!

As you can see, the spirit of giving is alive and well here at PCH, and we look forward to continuing the tradition in 2018! After all, we are “The House Where Dreams Come True”!

Wishing you a wonderful New Year!
