How do I know if it’s really PCH?

Last Updated: March 24, 2017

Greetings, fans and friends,

Here on the blog, we often write about scammers who take advantage of unsuspecting folks by claiming they’re from Publishers Clearing House. Unfortunately, there are many impostors out there who contact our fans and make them believe they are from PCH – when they are absolutely not from PCH in any way, shape or form!

It may look as if a fortune is coming your way,  but BEWARE! It might be a PCH scam!

These scammers will stop at nothing to get their hands on your hard-earned money! Some might send you a friend request on Facebook, claiming they are members of the famous PCH Prize Patrol (remember, the real PCH Prize Patrol will never send friend requests on Facebook!). Others might phone you or email you claiming that they will award you a prize only if you send money first (again, something that would never, ever happen with the real PCH!).

But lately, the scammers have been upping their game and getting even more sophisticated. Their communications really look and sound as if they come from the real PCH – but please beware … they are NOT! They may make you question, “How do I know if it’s really PCH?”

Today we wanted to point out 2 new scams to you that are definitely NOT from the real PCH. First is the email below, which was sent to our customers just a few weeks ago. It looks like it could be an actual PCH email, doesn’t it? But at the bottom of the email, you will see that the sender asks you to use special code if you are contacted by PCH. This is NOT an email from PCH – the real PCH would never ask a winner to use a special code or password to claim a prize!

Beware – this is NOT an email from PCH!

Next, we’d like to call your attention to a fancy-looking colorful postcard that was actually mailed out recently. This postcard contains the real PCH return address, mentions a real PCH Giveaway Number, cites real information about Publishers Clearing House’s history, and mentions the name of PCH’s actual president. However, it lists two scam telephone numbers along with fraudulent website information. This is NOT a postcard from the real PCH – as real as it may look!!

Beware – this is NOT a real postcard from PCH!

Here at PCH, the safety and security of each and every one of our fans, friends and customers is a top priority. We truly care about all of you, and want you to enjoy every aspect of our free-to-enter sweepstakes.
