Meet Martha Fryar, Our Newest SuperPrize Winner
People are always asking the Prize Patrol, “We see you knock on doors. But what if the winner isn’t home?” Well, we go to “Plan B” and ask neighbors if they have any idea where our winner might be.
That’s what we attempted when no one answered at Martha Fryar’s house in Fairmont, West Virginia. But the few we saw in the neighborhood were clueless, and we had no luck until a young woman, Josie, drove by, saw a lot of commotion – including a local TV news crew – and stopped to see if something was wrong. She was overjoyed to find that the Prize Patrol was there to surprise her dear friend Martha —with roses, balloons and a Big Check. Josie quickly mobilized a network of friends to summon Martha home without ruining the surprise. The only trouble was that when Martha heard “You’ve got to come home right away!” she imagined “bad news.”
After a fast 20-mile drive home, Martha was relieved to see that her house was not on fire. Then, when she saw our trademark balloons bobbing toward her, she realized this was “good news.” Within seconds she was presented a Big Check – as seen on TV – declaring her our newest Million Dollar SuperPrize winner. She was overwhelmed and needed some hugs to reassure her that her years of entering the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes had really “paid off.” A neighborhood which minutes before had seemed so quiet now erupted with cheers and congratulations — and amazement that an event all had seen countless times on TV was happening live before their eyes.
Martha is a retired nurse, mother and grandmother. Asked what she might do with her unexpected good fortune she allowed that a trip would be nice and that she will share it with her children and grandchildren who are scattered around the country.
Congratulations Martha, and welcome to our huge and ever-growing family of winners! And to the rest of you, follow Martha’s advice: Enter the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes every chance you get and you could be a winner too .
