Greetings, fans and friends!
PCH is famous for giving away millions in prizes and making dreams come true! In fact, to date, we’ve given away over $438,000,000.00 – and there’s more to be won every single day!
Publishers Clearing House is also known for making dreams come true for charities, too! Did you know that over 40% of PCH’s profits benefit charities? The founders of PCH, the Mertz family, established the LuEsther T. Mertz Charitable Trust and the Mertz-Gilmore Foundation to provide grants and funding for cultural and educational institutions, as well as human rights, environmental and civic programs.
PCH also gives directly to other charities – you’re probably familiar with our annual social media charity event called The Giveback, where, with the help of fans like you sharing our posts on social media, we’ve donated an incredible $900,000.00 to date to St. Jude® Children’s Research Hospital, to help defeat childhood cancer.
PCHers themselves love giving back to charity! Here are just some of the many charitable events our employees have participated in during the past few weeks:
• Earlier this month, employees filled 250 backpacks with school supplies that were then donated to the families of local schoolchildren who aren’t able to afford school supplies.
• PCHers packed hundreds of breakfasts for needy families through a local charity called Island Harvest.
• We have also planted a community garden right here at PCH Headquarters, and we’ve been donating our harvest of fresh, delicious vegetables to local families who might not otherwise have access to healthy food.
• PCHers volunteered at the INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network), an organization that serves as a destination of comfort with access to a hardy meal and the essentials of clothing, toiletries and even access to showers.
Employees in our Manhattan office helped clean up trash at a New York City park. How’s this for a background for a volunteer activity?
There are too many more PCH volunteer activities and events to mention here – from writing thank-you cards to veterans … to lending a “paw” at an animal shelter … to collecting pet supplies … to cleaning paddocks for therapy horses.
