Prize Patrol Makes And Keeps Friends Across The USA!

People often ask me if we do follow-up check-ups on the folks who win big cash prizes in the PCH Sweepstakes. I’m a bit surprised by questions like this — because such an activity seems so impersonal.  After all, unique friendships between the Prize Patrol and our winners start with “the Big Check winning moment” and often last for years and years – with phone calls, cards, emails, sometimes even face-to-face reunions.

In fact, I just was talking with Larry Brown who won last August’s $1 Million SuperPrize.  He and his wife “could not be happier” he says.  It didn’t take them long to move from their little house near St. Louis to a beautiful new home in sunny Florida – not too far from that happy place called the Magic Kingdom.

I get Christmas cards from winners with news of their families and maybe a photo or two to keep us up-to-date on their blessings.  Kids whom we first saw as toddlers when the Prize Patrol delivered the Big Check are now in college or are parents of toddlers of their own!

I sometimes hear from past winners who know that the real Publishers Clearing House wants to stamp out those fraudulent scam operators who pretend to be from PCH and call or mail innocent consumers with requests for money or a fee to win a prize.  Our winners know – first-hand — that you don’t have to pay a penny to enter or win any prize in the PCH Sweepstakes – which has been run with utmost integrity for 45 years!

Life goes on, year after year, and unfortunately sometimes I receive sad news.  I just learned from John Cotter, winner of a $1 Million SuperPrize back in 1990, that his beloved wife Barbara passed away.  Barbara was the star of a classic “winning moment” that was featured in our TV advertising campaigns many times. When the Prize Patrol rang the bell at the Cotter’s Texas home, Barbara – who was nursing the flu in bed — came to the door with little grandson Christian who was dressed in a little Batman shirt.  She just about fainted when she saw us with roses, balloons, champagne and a Big Check that declared John a “$1 Million PCH Sweepstakes SuperPrize Winner.”  (Now, fully grown and a prize-winning singer, grandson Chris is pursuing an operatic career in New York).   John and I have stayed in touch several times a year, and he is grateful for the blessing the prize has been for him and his family.  Publishers Clearing House extends heartfelt condolences to the Cotter family on the loss of this lovely woman.

In friendship,

Dave Sayer

Prize Patrol Ambassador

Thanks for sharing stories of past winners. It’s interesting to learn how the prizes have changed or improved their lives.

I hope to win the big prize one day and find out what it would be like to be financially secure and to be able to help family. I would also like to donate some money to specific organizations.

I’ll continue to enter often and just hope for the best. :)

Did The Prize Patrol’s very own Dave Sayer and Todd Sloane run a Prize Patrol Boot Camp yesterday when they already train the PCH employees to become Prize Patrol Deputies for the very first time ever? Because I already entered the Publishers Clearing House contest by telephone this morning because I haven’t selected as a PCH winner for the PCH random drawing yet.

Hi Victoria At PCH, since I used to enter the Publishers Clearing House contest by mail which is from the spring of 2006 to the spring of 2007 because the non famous Prize Patrol Deputies didn’t deliver the prize to my house in fairfax, virginia which was way back in december of 2006 because of my mistake because after that, I used to enter the PCH contest online which is from the summer of 2007 to the spring of 2012 because now, I only enter the PCH contest by telephone all the time because my 11-digit customer ID number that I enter the contest by phone all the time is that you are going to do that for me right now so now can you let the two unknown Prize Patrol Deputies that they already surprised a elementary school teacher named Mr. Harvey Hicks with $1,000.00 a few years back when they are going to access both that money and all of my prizes right now when they are going to pack up there luggages and travel to my town which is fairfax, virginia when they are going to stay at a hotel in fairfax, virginia so now after that, they are going to contact the media and get both flowers and balloons from a florist in fairfax, virginia so that they are going to find me,surprise me,and deliver a prize to me right after they are going to deliver a prize to my house in fairfax, virginia so now please let them do that for me right now!

Hi PCH, Yes I would hope prize winners would keep in touch, I know I would. How do you thank someone for changing your life, and lifting financial burdens? I would say a lifetime friendship is the least that would happen! I haven’t won but after these years I feel like there are friends at PCH. Though I have never wanted to win a prize/check from my friends!Haha!

Does anyone ever really win Pch lotto?? Ive heard numerous stories of people who said they won big prizes on the lotto only to be told later there were errors with the lotto and they didnt actually win. Do you really honor the prizes if they match all the winning numbers??

Thank you Dave Sayer, Prize Patrol Ambassador for that heart felt letter to all of us.

I am so very glad you keep in touch with the winners of PCH, in one-way or another. That is so very sweet about Larry Brown and his family moving to Florida. I often wonder what happens to them all after winning so much money and it is nice to know that it really does have a positive out come and that you or someone from the PrizePatrol keeps in touch with them, but then it is so very sad to hear about John Cotter’s wife Barbara passing, you are a good friend just to be there for them.

On the other hand: I agree about the fraudulent scammers that have been plaguing me on my Facebook page, email and mail and I am sure it is upsetting the other people on your Facebook page as well. I really hope they can catch these people that are doing this, it makes you not want to go on line to PCH.

Well, all I can say is GOOD LUCK to every one that enters PCH!!!!

And Dave, I do hope you have a fantastic weekend and I just wanted to thank you and the PrizePatrol again for just being there for everyone that has won at PCH!!!!

Hi Dave!
So awesome that the winners actually become personal to PCH. I would imagine that ~yes~ for sure these grateful people would keep PCH updated with the awesome changes that come their way from the blessings that land on their doorstep when the Prize Patrol rings their bell! OMGoodness! Seeing little ones grow up with the breaks in life that they would not have been able to get without PCH has to be a wonderful plus for you guys.. God bless you for the “good works.” He sees every one of them! :)

PCH,
Hellllllllo to all!!!!!!!!!
I am honored to say that I have been a PCH member since January 2012, and believe me, I enjoy reading all the warm and sincere comments about whats happening with PCH. It’s a pleasure to say I’m from the Lone Star State that PCH has made many winners. I can only say I am proud of having our family together 23 years. We recently went through an aweful expeerience when we least expected. I pray to God every day, just for giving us the opportunity to have our child with us. Its a BLESSING. Aaaaaaaaaaah praise the LORD….. After loosing a year of school, he was fortunate to walk the stage right behind his sister. Both graduated 2011. I would love for both of them to attend college someday and be what they have always wanted in life. My daughter finished 11 in her class after going through this unexpected accident she deserves to go forward, but not alone but with him. After 43 days in ICU unit we thank God he made it….. I am proud of my two kids, I would do anything to send them off to college and see them continue thier studies……I know any parent would want an Education for thier children, but I never wish for any type of such accident happen when we as parents work hours and hours since your children were young just to save all the money for thier Education and out of the unexpected someone who your child does not even know just pops up and confuses your child with someone esle. This happen to my child and approaching a situation like this is a life changing deal. My family lost our home, our vehicles, all our belongings, and added many medical bills that we cant pay. One thing that helps put a smile in my face each and every morning is the fact I see the smile on his face again, and knowing he is beside me. I AM HAPPY. ……I am satisfied and do not ask for much. That smile tells me he wants to live…….. I am a great believer in the Lord, I am blessed with what little we have and just want PCH to know that I have dreams of becoming a future PCH winner some day, I can wait, I am patient and I know there is a time for everyone who dreams highly of having what they desire….. My believe is to help stop any type of wrong doing, and help our Society and community a safe place to live. God Bless each contestant that is a member of PCH. Everyone needs you PCH……..
