$1 Million Sweepstakes Winner – Karen Anderson

Yesterday the PCH Prize Patrol took to the road to deliver a life changing $1 Million to one lucky sweepstakes winner by the name of Karen Anderson. Luckily, the Prize Patrollers, including Danielle Lam, Todd Sloane, Dave Sayer and Natalie Bostelman, had no issues getting to Bella Vista, Arkansas where Karen lives. Things went so smoothly that they even found time to drop some hints about their location via the PCHPrizePatrol twitter feed and through their Facebook profiles (Check out Danielle’s profile here)! The first hint came as a quick early morning video of Danielle Lam in the hotel which you can see here on our Facebook Fan page. Soon after, the team posted a photo of the local Edelweiss Flower Shop where the Prize Patrollers picked up the all important Rose Bouquet.

Off they went with the signature Publishers Clearing House sign attached to the van and the caravan of reporters following closely. It didn’t take long to find Karen’s house, but Karen was nowhere to be seen! An hour went by and still no Karen, so the experienced Prize Patrol crew went straight to the neighbors for some help. The neighbors helped all they could but it still took another two hours before Karen made her star studded appearance! The reaction was priceless, as she was approached by the famous Prize Patrol holding a Big Check for the $1 Million sweepstakes prize with her name on it!

Lucky for us, Todd snapped a priceless photograph of her with the check and her smile is certainly one for the record books. They also took video of the entire spectacle which you can see by visiting PCHTv.com. Later this week, Danielle will give us a full recap of the sweepstakes winner delivery so make sure to keep an eye out!

Regards,
Frank @ PCH

    Hello,

Our mailings are opportunities for a chance to win, and provide clear information that the recipient has not yet won any prize, must enter by the deadline, and must be chosen to win. In order to win an entry must be selected by random drawing or match the winning number selected. Please remember that while we receive entries from all across the land only one individual can actually win each giveaway.

While we have promoted our famous sweepstakes for over 40 years as a way to draw attention to our unbeatable magazine deals and value-based merchandise offerings no purchase is ever necessary to enter or win. You may be interested to know that majority of our major prize winners have not ordered with their winning entry!

Dear Ruth Messano, Don’t feel bad for trying for just four years. I’ve been trying for over thirty years, and yet no knock on my door and I really need it to help my Mother who was just diagnosed with Demetria and we both have bills that need to be paid or we’ll be out on the streets.
    Good Luck

I wanna know why you all only let retired people win. I’m a single Mom divorcee with 6 kids struggling not to be homeless, and I never win. I don’t think it’s fair. plus, I bought some stuff from you all too. One year you all asked for directions to my house and had the nerve to include a map, and I still didn’t win. I need to see for once a real person, that is hard working with two jobs, trying to provide for a family to win such a blessing. My kids and I were praying for that blessing. I’m losing my car, and my house, and I have to take care of these kids alone. Thanks for selling me a dream… again!

    Hi Cheryl,

Each entry received has an equal chance of winning and we never know who our next winner may be. Our winners are as varied as the faces you see in our famous television commercials coming from all walks of life, ages, ethnic backgrounds and regions. We have had winners who live in big cities, small towns, trailer parks, high rise apartments and even the Alaskan tundra.

Iam amazed, at the comment that the winner,Karen Anderson, said”Maybe Ican afford to get that Chihuahua in the paper now” Please Karen, their are so many little dogs just waiting to be adopted at your local Humane Society Rescue, and Adoption places. I also give all of you who give her blessings when you know that you need the money as much if not more than she does. They say this world is going to H—, but if their were more people like the people giving luck, and blessings, this world would be a better place. As for me I give up on being foolish enough to think that I had a chance, with all the mailing back I did, and the YOU COULD BE NEXT IF YOU MAIL THIS BY —–. I did, and I didn’t win a dime. In all honesty, I prayed, I made myself think positive, but when Monday night came, my anxiety that overcame me was to much. Today I won my SUPERPRIZE, and it came by way of my youngest daughter. She brought me groceries.

    Maureen Sousa said...

    Hey Elaine,
    I agree with you!!!!
As I am an advocate for adopting animals also.

I have had 3 adpoted in my lifetime..from Humane Societies.

Daisy Mae ( our newest addition) came from a hoarding situation.. although she has some slight issues.we are still working on… she has been a blessing to our home!

Maybe Karen will reconsider & if she is set on a certain breed . she can look at specific rescue groups…that is how I found Daisy (although we still do not know what she is.. mixed breed)

I prayed probably as MUCH as you did & entered EVERYTHING also, but I still will not give up HOPE.. I promised my MOM I would not!!!
But I know how the anxiety can take over!!! I am learning NOT to get TOO anxious.. but JUST stay positive.

Hello,
I have a question for Alanna @ PCH.. on your explanation of the mailings..

I understand ALL of them except.
must be CHOSEN from other entries to win..

this sounds like it is NOT a random drawing to me.

could you please explain THIS part of the rules?

Maureen

[REPLY TO THIS POST]
    PCH Customer Service said...

    Hi Maureen,

We apologize for any confusion. Our draws are random. All entries have a chance to win. For reference, there are two methods we use:

MATCHING WINNING NUMBER – Our independent auditors select a winning SuperPrize number at random. Publishers Clearing House does not know the winning number until giveaway end when the auditors reveal it to us. Throughout the life of the sweepstakes, Publishers Clearing House assigns SuperPrize numbers to outgoing Bulletins. Any one of the numbers assigned to you while the giveaway is going on could be the winning number.

RANDOM DRAWINGS – A two-step process is used for random drawings. Incoming entries are prequalified either manually, by specially trained contest judges using raffle cages, or electronically using a computer. Then, on drawing day, all qualified entries are sequentially numbered and a bingo cage is used to randomly pick the winner.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

    Regards,
    Rod @ PCH

      It is getting there Rod,

What does PREQUALIFIED mean to YOU GUYS.. in the Random drawing??…
I think it may have to do something with the DMA surveys… I HOPE NOT…
as then this IS NOT RANDOM.. & means just that>>>>!!!!PREQUALIFIED.. by a survey.

      Could you guys please explain!!!!

I am not being a pain & trying NOT to be negative….just would like a better understanding of how things are done… & when you brought in a few blogs back about the Designated Market Areas..

I am just now wondering if THIS has ANY effect on where things are drawn…

As I see that ther are hardly ANY people from the New England area in the equation… & read in an article on a marketing site were it was said that you PCH (per Dave Sayer)took New England out of the mailing lists to cut costs, because of the pessimism & skepticism here.

I am neither a pessimist or a skeptic & did get cut off from the mailings. & did not know WHY at the time. & now can only enter through e-mail..

I have asked to get BACK on the mailing list but still have NOT at this time..

You may not want to put this AGAIN on the blog but just wanted an honest answer..

Hi Barbara,

We apologize if some of our responses are repetitive. However, we answer the same questions continuously. We are making sure that our sweepstakes are clearly understood by everyone. Everyone has an equal chance, so the next winner could be anyone entering. Our drawing methodology has not changed. Publishers Clearing House prides itself on running a fair and honest sweepstakes for over 40 years in which we have awarded in excess of $300 million in prizes. We really mean it when we say that there is no purchase necessary. While our sweepstakes are designed to create interest in our magazine and merchandise offers, it clearly states in all of our mailings that there is no purchase necessary to enter or win any of our sweepstakes.

Regards,
Addison @ PCH

Hello Renee –

Our August 2010 SuperPrize Winner was definitely under 60! :)

To echo what Rod says, the drawing is random, so there’s no way of knowing who our winner is until we match up the winning number with the entrant that matches the number drawn.

Keep in mind that PCH awards many other prizes. The bigger ones tend to get the most focus.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I am a little late in my response to Mrs. Andersons winnings. The bible says to cast your lots and let the Lord decide. I believe Mrs. Anderson won because she did just that. I am very happy for her. It is always my prayer that in God’s timing I too reap the benefits of casting my lots before the Lord.

I truly appreciate the opportunity that PCH provides to all who believe.

Thank you PCH! I have been entering since I was 15 (then for my mom) and as I grew into adulthood, I entered for me. I am now 65 and still waiting on God’s timing!!!! :)
