Do You Know The Signs Of A PCH Imposter Scam?

PCH Phone Scams

Hello PCH fans!

When someone mentions the name Publishers Clearing House (PCH), what comes to mind? Could it be the chance to WIN BIG with our fantastic sweepstakes? Maybe it is the possibility to win instantly with PCHSearch&Win, or hit a jackpot with PCHlotto? No matter what it is, PCH loves nothing more than to making dreams come true for folks all across the country!

Unfortunately, there are a TON of scammers out there fraudulently posing as PCH, just eager to tell innocent folks like you and me that they have won a prize. But beware because these scammers are not from the REAL Publishers Clearing House. They are just trying to rob you of your hard-earned money.

Today, I want to warn everyone that these PCH imposter scams can happen to ANYONE. And I mean ANYONE! In fact, just a few weeks ago, my OWN father was scammed via telephone by someone claiming they were from PCH. Talk about messing with the wrong person, right?

It all started a few weeks ago when I got a phone call from my mom. She said: “Your father got a phone call from someone at PCH telling him that we have won their Super Prize. Clearly this isn’t true, right?

I quickly explained to her that it was DEFINITELY a PCH imposter scam! For starters, PCH employees and their families are not eligible to win any of our sweepstakes prizes. Also, the Prize Patrol NEVER notifies major prize winners by phone. If you’ve won a big SuperPrize, you’ll know when the Prize Patrol shows up at your door with a Big Check.

I must say I was pretty shocked to hear that my own family member had been hit with a PCH scam. Curiously I asked my mom what they had said to my father on the phone. “Well she said, “The guy on the other end told him that he had won the SuperPrize and he told the man that there was no way he could have won because he didn’t enter and that his daughter works for PCH. The guy told him that he really had won and would call him back tomorrow with the name and address of where to send the money to collect the prize. I knew right then it couldn’t be real

I must say I was relieved! Thankfully, my family was smart enough to know that this “imposter” on the other end of the phone was not in any way associated with the real Publishers Clearing House.

I want to make sure all you PCH fans know how to spot a PCH imposter scam. Remember that PCH will NEVER ask you to do ANY of the following if you are indeed a winner:

• The Prize Patrol NEVER notifies major prize winners by phone.

• The Prize Patrol NEVER notifies major prize winners by Facebook. And they don’t send friend requests either!

And here are two additional tips that may help you identify scam communications:

•  PCH does NOT use the phrase “US dollars

• No one from PCH will contact you via a Gmail or Yahoo account

Even though these are some of the BIGGEST telltale signs that you have been scammed, there are always new techniques out there that scammers will use to get your money. So any time you have even the slightest feeling that you are being scammed, look for these red flag warning signs!

Comment below and let us know if you found these warning signs helpful! Also let us know if you’ve been a victim of a PCH scam. We’d really like to hear about it in order to keep all our fans safe!

  2. I’m pretty sure I’m being scammed I got a call saying that I had won 1.6 million dollars and that I needed to send $7,800 to Miami and that was to ensure package of money that was coming to me. I have the phone number and the name. The one guy was Alan Rogers play me the address of 231 Northwest 53rd Street Miami Florida another one was Steve Baker and the third one was Todd Bennett. They said the money was to ensure the shipment from New York to my house and even offered to pay for plane tickets true true New York to pick up the prize personally. I’m a bit confused it sounded so legitimate and I hate I think I really did miss out on the money. But your website says you never contact anyone by phone.

    1. Sadly, there are scammers out there who use our good name and reputation to try to deceive people. If you are ever contacted by someone who is posing as the real PCH, please report it to us via this link: We would like to let everyone know that you never need to pay to claim a PCH prize you may have won. Also, PCH will never contact winners via phone, text, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook requests, or private messages. Large prize winners are notified in person. The best thing about PCH is that it’s free to enter and free to win!

  3. I thought they’d caught most of these guys – 38 of them so far but I guess there’s a lot more out there. They are actually from Jamaica SCAMMING Millions of $$ from people on fixed incomes because they’ve hacked the Social Security system and got our phone #’s. They r posing as being from PCH and are also Clone our phones to make their calls to appear from the US. Turn off ur Blue Tooth if u are out in public! I have a list of over 800 names they use and almost 900 phone #’s they r using. PCH doesn’t want them.

  4. Yes I have apparently, about four or five different scams going on all at the same time from Publishers Clearing House and the employees. I’ve had Debra Hollins, some lady saying she’s in control of Instagram, everyone telling me that I’ve won the super prize and I told them well only one could pray for this and it would be a complete blessing in my life along with my family but however PCH would never ever tell me that I have one from Instagram or anyting they would just show up at my front door. They want my full name, address, phone number. One asked me to go get a card for $100, I don’t even know how they get the money from there. I just don’t understand how people can get money from others like that it’s a horrible thing that people actually do this to other people. Especially when they are in dire need of help.. as well as to get people’s hopes up high is another horrible awful thing especially when they are in dire need. I hope you guys have a way of catching these people but I’ve taken pictures on my phone of these conversations. It will also come with a picture of the person. Supposedly, they want my email address, full name, phone number and my residential address. do you guys inform winners via Instagram ever.? You never did mention Instagram and so I don’t know what is real and what is not. The only real thing I know is how hard and long and ours but until playing everything and trying my best to win. Maybe I could get in your spine. And a hernia operation. And a lot more cancer cells removed from my face.

  7. I received an email stating I had won $850,000 from an email that is supposed to be PCH. They didn’t ask for money but for my address. I’m not sure if I should respond.

  8. I was contacted a few weeks ago via email saying My email was chosen as a winner I was given a lottery number and told to reply (to a different email than this was sent from)with my given names gender phone number is this Legit? I noticed on this page it mentions PCH never reaches out to winners via gmail or yahoo. Yet on another PCH help page it says sometimes email is a method of contact for winners with smaller winnings?
