April 11th is National Pet Day, and if there’s anything we might love just a bit more than winning prizes, it’s our beloved pets! So there’s no better time to get to know our favorite PCH pet, Lil Chuck.

Lil Chuck is a Pug!

If you’ve ever wondered what breed of dog Lil Chuck is, the distinctive nose might have been a giveaway. He’s a pug! Pugs originate in China, with their bloodline tracing all the way back to 400 B.C. They’re pretty ancient! Most of the Buddhist monks took pugs as their pets in Tibetan monasteries, which explains why Lil Chuck is always so calm, cool, and collected when he has to keep the secret and surprise his winners. He’s got zen embedded in his DNA!

Chinese Emperors treated pugs like royalty, and it’s safe to say Lil Chuck is still living the good life, just like his ancestors. He gets to travel cross country and see the world, and there are treats at every rest stop! Don’t let the underbite fool you, he’s grinning from ear to ear. When we say that Lil Chuck is living the good life, we really mean it. In fact, he doesn’t really seem to want to submit any PTO! If he had to name his favorite place on earth, we’re pretty sure he’d say “sitting in the paw-ssenger seat of the Prize Patrol van.” Or maybe on the doorstep of PCH’s next lucky winner? When it comes to his own definition of luxury, though, Lil Chuck is a much simpler doggo. After all, he wouldn’t even know what to do with all that money! Don’t worry, though– he has been informed that the Big Check is not a chew toy.
