The PCH Prize Patrol Never Contacts Major Prize Winners on Social Media!
Greetings, fans and friends,
Imagine this: You’re wishing your cousin a happy birthday on Facebook when, all of a sudden, you receive a friend request from Danielle Lam of the PCH Prize Patrol, informing you that you have won a million dollars from Publishers Clearing House!
Or … you’re following your favorite movie star on Twitter when Howie Guja, of the PCH Prize Patrol, sends you a tweet that you have just won $100,000.00!
Or … you’re on Instagram, admiring photos of your friend’s new baby, when, out of the blue, Prize Patrol member Todd Sloane informs you that you’ve won a brand-new luxury car!
“WOW!” you say to yourself, “Is this for real? Did I really win from Publishers Clearing House? Or is this a scam?”
First off, good for you for being cautious! Because the fact is: Publishers Clearing House never notifies major prize winners via social media!
I’ll say it again … PCH will never contact a major prize winner via social media!
And if you are contacted on social media by someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House, informing you that you have won a major prize, it is a scam!
In fact, just the other day, our very own “Matt the Stats Man” Kelly was followed on Instagram by a scammer posing as PCH Senior Vice President Deborah Holland.
Unfortunately, scammers make every effort to take advantage of our fans and friends through the Internet.
While Publishers Clearing House continues to work with law enforcement agencies to root out scammers and put an end to their criminal ways, there are a few things you can do to help keep yourself safe:
• Never accept a Facebook friend request from PCH.If you get a friend request, even if it looks like it’s coming directly from the Prize Patrol, beware! It’s a scam!
• Don’t engage in Twitter or Instagram conversations with people pretending to be from PCH.We will never contact you this way!
• Never respond to a message claiming that you’ve won a prize but in order to claim it you must send payment of some type. Every single PCH giveaway is FREE to enter and win. We never ask for payment of any kind to claim a prize!
• Always make sure you’re on the real PCH social media pages. They’re the only ones with the blue check mark!
• Always report phony social media requests and contacts ASAP with our handy online Scam Incident Report Form.
Friends and fans, we know that you want to win a PCH prize probably more than anything, and we encourage you to stay in it to win it! But please keep in mind that the PCH Prize Patrol would never contact you directly through any social media outlet!
I’ll say it one more time and say it with me: PCH never notifies major prize winners on social media!
So how would you know if you’ve won a major prize from Publishers Clearing House? That’s easy to answer! Why, you’d open the door and, to your great surprise, see the PCH Prize Patrol, unannounced, with flowers, balloons, champagne, and the big winning check – just like you see on TV!
All the best,
Debbie K.
