Here at PCH, we work very hard to educate everyone about how to avoid a scam and how to report a scam. And while it might help other blog readers when you share your scam stories in the “comments” section of the blog, it is crucial that you report scams using our names properly – and immediately!

Report a PCH Scam
“Report a Scam!”
Says Danielle Lam

Whether you receive a fraudulent “friend request” on Facebook from a member of the PCH Prize Patrol (remember, the PCH Prize Patrol never sends friend requests on Facebook!) … or get a phone call, email or letter from someone claiming to be from PCH, who will award you a prize only if you send money first (something that would also never happen with the real PCH), you absolutely need to take the following action:

Report the scam using our Scam Incident Report
Are you unsure of whether or not you’ve been scammed? We have tons of practical help on our Scam Prevention tab on Facebook as well as our Fraud Protection Page at PCH.com.

  1. Over the course of three days, my husband (who never has entered PCH at all!) rec’d a call from Michael who said we’d won a prize with PCH. Husband said to call me, as I am the one who always enters PCH sweeps. That fellow called me that night, and the next day and I spent a lot of time telling him he was not from PCH, he’s a scammer, because he was not following ANY of the protocol I have always read about in other mailings from PCH, and online. He had excuses. He had a supervisor, Mary, who called us again the next day. I had already told Michael my answer was “NO!” and not to call me back. He called on my phone 6 or 7 times, I hung up without talking to him. He called my husband and then me again, he actually got MAD because I didn’t believe him. Mary called my husband again and told him she would call me and also was going to send me a pleasant surprise via Fed-Ex tomorrow . I had told them that their little”fish” (me) had spit out the hook, and to never call us back again, but I guess I’ll find out tomorrow what the ‘little surprise’ is. They said we’d won a Mercedes Benz. I told them that Consumer Reports had just sent out info on re-calling 600,000 Mercedes vehicles. They wanted us to send something like $12,500 to cover taxes(!). They even said they’d send us the name of a bank where we could send the check, but that never came up again. I know these are not PCH employees. I kept telling them not to call back, period, but she is supposed to call us again tomorrow. I am feeling quite harrassed by them because I won’t fall for their scam! It is so annoying, and I know it is our fault they keep calling us back.

    1. Hi Sarah! We are very sorry to hear the scammers are bothering you, but we’re glad you can tell they aren’t the real PCH. Please report all contacts from scammers to PCH via this link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH. 3. I received a telephone call from David Brooks who declared that he is the prize agent from PCH and that I had won 4.5 million dollars and a 20220Explorer Platinum truck. The number he gave me that I could contact him is ###-###-7697 extension 005. He stated that they were in Fayetteville, NC and needed my address to know where to deliver the certified check. He then proceeded to say that the Federal government required a state registration receipt that I must obtain from Walmart for $900 with my name and address.

  4. I received a message on messanger from Janet Thomas today saying that the board of directors told her to send me a request. Of course I didn’t answer, but it’s not the first time. I actually received a call months back saying I won big. I told them, if I won, why aren’t you at my door? Then I hung up!

    1. Hello Angela, it’s important to remember that the real PCH doesn’t notify our major prize winners via phone, standard mail, email, or social media, and we never ask for money to claim a prize. 5. I received a phone call today telling me I won second prize in PCH Prize. You all have been trying to find me. I gave my new address and the gentleman that called wanted my new address which I gave. He told me I won $2,000,000.00. Plus I won $5,000.00 per week forever. He never ask for info until he told me he needed my bank routing and acct info to deposit my weekly $5,000.00. I refused to give it to him. The call came from a Texas number: 217-360-2644. I wish it was true, but I know it’s not I accidently hung up cuz I was doing laundry. I never answered his call again.
If I did win, it couldn’t come at a better time.

    1. Hello Sonya, that is not the real PCH calling you; it’s a scammer that’s only pretending to be from PCH. Please do not call that number, do not give the scammer any personal info including bank account information, and definitely do not send them any money if they ask. If you haven’t already done so, please report that scam contact to us via the following link: http://bit.ly/Report-Scam-To-PCH.
